I will never eat here again. To start, the manager clearly has zero experience in management. On Saturday night, it is understandable to have a wait, but to have almost half the restaurant unseated and a 45 minute wait, due to a low number of servers is ridiculous. Once we were sat at a table, vice the hibachi table (wait was way too long), the service was awful. Not to mention, my husband went to the bar to get drinks while we waited, with not one person in front of him, it took 22 minutes to get a beer and plum wine. Most of my family, including my 3yr old and 1 yr old, had hibachi. My mother-in-law has sushi. We ended up staying at this restaurant for almost 3 hours and our waitress just disappeared towards the end, we had coated up and stood there waiting for her to take the check for almost 15 minutes and not one employee, although the place was pretty empty at this point, did anything.
To make matters much worse, last night my stomach started hurting out of nowhere and around 3 am, both my kids and myself presented with food poisoning. I am pregnant and now spent until 6am with my 3 year vomiting. Now she just woke up to vomit again, throwing up rice from dinner, that I made her eat.
I cannot express how awful this experience was or with how horrible the service was. We will not be going back to this poorly managed establishment, too bad, because Southern Pines could use a good hibachi place. And I feel bad for the owner, unless he was the one managing it last night, because the amount of money they lost due to being mismanaged is a lot.
Horrible - thanks for making my family...

Our family went to eat at Maguro for the first time this evening. This will likely be our last time eating there, as we rarely go out to eat. So having a good experience when we go out is important. We did not eat on the Japanese steakhouse side, which may have had better food. I will say that Maguro appears to be a newer restaurant so we usually take that into consideration, somewhat. They were busy, but not unusually busy for Friday night.
Pros: The staff were polite and nice. There was no wait on the dine in side and we sat right down. The menu had many options and the sushi was good. The hibachi steak was okay.
Cons: We waited for about 10 minutes before we fought against our intraverted urges and flagged someone down. We assumed that the hibachi menu would be comparable to the food on the steakhouse side. This assumption was based on the $8.00 charge for a share plate, which is standard for most Japanese steakhouses. The rice was not Hibachi style. It was undercooked, hard, cold, and had a plastic aftertaste. The chicken was overcooked. I love authentic Japanese house ginger salad dressing, this was more of a mayo based style dressing that we don’t prefer. The soup was Miso soup, which we don’t like as much as the standard Onion soup.
Hopefully, others will have a better experience there. I’m sure there are people who have positive things to say. I think some restaurants are considered good for the area they are located in. I believe this is one of them, as we have had several people tell us how good Maguro...
Read moreTonight was my first time going, and I was so excited about it. I asked for a to go plate to put my food in but I probably will not be eating it. My rice had a very funny taste to it it wasn't seasoned and it was just horrible. I gave this review an extra star because I did have a pretty decent waiter and my friend and I did tip him. If it wasn't for him, this review would have gotten one Star. My friend and I were walking up to the front to pay for our orders when I theWaiter took our cards and said he would be back. We saw the register so we thought we were supposed to walk up and pay but he took our cards over to the side. So we walked up to the front and was standing there waiting patiently when a young lady who keeps her hair in a ponytail caught an attitude with me as if she didn't want us standing up towards the front. And I brushed it off because I thought maybe I was overthinking it and then my friend mentioned her attitude and when this young lady then went up to the front she said something to one of the other workers that made them turn around and look at us. I didn't like her attitude and she isn't a people person. I don't want to make this about race but I was with my friend who is Caucasian. When we were given our receipts they handed the receipts to my friend and acted as if I wasn't at the table with her. The conversations for mostly had with her. Then the young lady with the ponytail and the attitude thanked my friend and told her to have a good night and she didn't say one thing to me. I don't think...
