So, a few things are good, and some not so much. First, the donuts are unquestionably good. They have some clever flavors, nice building. You can tell its fairly popular also due to a line starting before they even open. Also, the staff there was very kind and helpful. They were trying their best to serve people quickly and very friendly doing it. Their process is pretty efficient considering how busy things got.
Some drawbacks exist though. The place is small and not feasible for my two children to eat in as they would be impeding the line and only small high-top tables mounted to wall.
Secondly, the donuts are WAY too expensive for what they are. For example, the glazed are $2 ($0.90 or so at Donut Cutter and Apple Fritter of same size). They sprinkled some Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Fruity Pebbles on some of these glazed and those sold for $3. I should have purchased the glazed and then bought a box of cereal on the way home as not $1 worth of cereal was on the top.
Also, half a dozen ends up costing around $20. If you go to Apple Fritter, its $9 a dozen. Huge difference. The donuts are equivocal size and in my opinion, slightly better in quality. Plus their apple fritters are amazing.
Last, their coffee is lacking dramatically. They should not even put "+coffee" in the title. They don't roast their own beans, don't have any advertisement of good local roasters, and drip coffee machine was all I saw as far as standard drink. A local diner this is not supposed to be.
In essence, I think this place has tons of potential, but much too expensive and some...
Read moreSo I've always loved this place, but today I had an amazing experience with them that I want to share with the world to show how great they are!
Today is Fat Tuesday and the Donut Bar was packed with customers and orders and had a bunch of amazing paczkis. I got there really early to make sure that I could get 6 of their VEGAN ones (I am so grateful they always offer something vegan). I got my donuts really quickly, had amazing customer service. When I made it home though, I realized that they forgot to fill my batch with the jelly, so they were paczkis with no filling.
I called them to explain the situation and they were SO friendly on the phone, asked no questions, and then asked for my name and said if I drove back over they'd have a 6 totally fresh new ones waiting for me. When I arrived, they greeted me so nicely. One of the employees (I can't remember her name but her hair is very short and she was wearing a bold lipstick color) even introduced herself to me, apologized, and said if I ever need anything again I can come to her and she will take care of me. She then handed me a DOZEN vegan paczkis, even though I had only paid for 6 earlier, and said "Thank you for coming back and trusting us". Even on probably their busiest day of the year, they were still that understanding. Now THAT is customer service.
As far as I'm concerned, no place will ever have as great of donuts or customer service as the Donut Bar does, I'd give them 6...
Read moreI had high hopes for this place when I found out that they had vegan Donuts. I'm allergic to eggs and dairy so finding vegan food especially big and donuts is incredibly difficult in our area. When I walked in and I was sad to find out there was only one flavor a day that they make that's available that's vegan. They had at least 9 to 12 other options that were not begin one of them being plain glazed. The girl that stood off the flavors that they rotate that are vegan they were all really sweet sounding more like candy less like donuts. I know that's kind of their thing but if you have a glazed donut for regular people would be awesome if you could have a glazed donut for us vegan people especially those of us who aren't choosing to be vegan but are being forced to be vegan. also I feel like people forget that a lot of vegan people are more on the healthier side so when you have Donuts available for non vegan people that have things like fresh fruit and lightly glazed. And then all you have are chocolate peanut butter Oreo, coffee glazed with a cookie on top, and so forth. Unfortunately there are no donuts for vegans that could just be a sweet delectable treat in the morning. If your vegan and you're interested in checking out these Donuts think of them more as a snack or a...
