We tried this place on a whim because we were in the mood for sushi and just did not want to drive all the way out to our usual (and favorite) sushi place.
Well we were very pleasantly surprised! We ended up getting a rather larger variety of sushi just to try it all, and we almost could not finish it all. The prices, compared to other places we have been to and enjoyed, are pretty close to any other sushi joint out there. I would go so far as to say that it is, however, just a little pricey for the area it is in. No, it is not a poor or bad area but it is just not a city where you find higher end establishments. Having said that, relative to our experienced sushi palates, it was well worth the cost.
We were doubly impressed by this place just a few minutes after leaving it with our order (we phoned in the order to go). We added an order of edamame and they did not get it out with our order, so they called us while we were still driving home to let us know. We decided we were too far and our toddler was too hungry to go back, so they gave us credit for a double order of edamame the next time we came back (we only ordered and paid for one). Great customer service!
As for the sushi itself, the fish and the shrimp were all very fresh and clean-tasting. Two of the rolls had just a bit too much sauce on them, so the tuna was slightly lost but the rolls were still very tasty overall. The rolls we got were also rolled well and held their shape, as they should for dipping. A few of the rolls seemed to be quite large (in length, meaning more pieces from a single roll) - not a complaint at all.
The parking lot is shared in a small strip of stores with other businesses so it is a little limited.
The space inside looked modern in decor and clean in appearance - the beverage station, the floor, the counters, etc.
While we did not dine in, it does look like a nice place for a casual date. They also have other Japanese dishes on the menu, but we did not order any of those so I cannot comment on those at this time, but suffice to say you can get other food here...
Read moreI used to love this place a few years back, but here i am with back to back bad experiences and I keep trying to go back to a place I used to love. For starters, they used to have a vegan menu. they no longer sell ramen or have anything labeled vegan on the menu. Ive been getting the veggie rolls and I still enjoyed going there regardless. Yesterday, I asked the server if any of the entrees could be made vegan. She said "I dont think so" but refused to ask the chef. I ordered my veggie rolls, asked her if I could get a miso soup without fish sauce. She didnt bring me a miso soup, so im assuming that wasnt possible but she didnt tell me " it cant be made vegan" or anything she just didnt bring it. I order a coke and my bf orders a diet coke because he is diabetic, he drank his full drink and the server comes over with a pitcher and fills both of ours with the same drink. I said "his is supposed to be diet" and she said she "forgot". That is the first time that has ever happened to him and at that point we just needed to rush home and monitor his health. It took over an hour to get our food even tho we were the only customers there. The time before this it took almost 3 hours to get our food and the waiter (different person) told us he forgot to put in our order. I cant keep dealing with this place and hoping to have a better experience. its right next to a vegan bakery so i dont think its such an inconvenience to ask for vegan options when they have previously offered them...
Read moreI’m torn because the food IS good and the service isn’t bad - it’s just slow and poorly managed. It feels like it’s being run by inexperienced staff. We walked in and it wasn’t very busy at all. 4 different staff members came up to greet us and ask if we had been helped yet. Nope, not yet. Okay, someone will be with you in just a moment. There were 5 people behind the sushi bar rolling sushi. Looked like 2 girls doing take out and 2 more girls doing - not sure???
We finally get seated and our drink order is taken. A few minutes later she comes back to take our food order (still no drinks). We order our food and the drinks finally come shortly after. We ordered Miso soup, edamame app and a couple of rolls. The soup and edamame came out together. Soup was hot but the edamame was not. At all. They have to steam it - yet it wasn’t hot. We hadn’t even finished the soup when our rolls arrived. Sort of a pet peeve of mine, but I can’t stand when my entree arrives at the same time as my app. I finished my soup while it was hot. My app was never hot so I moved on to the entree that was absolutely delicious and then went back to my now cold edamame app. Our waitress was very sweet but I probably won’t be back. The light fixtures, the shades - everything had a thick layer of dust on it and it didn’t feel very clean. It has good potential but it needs someone to get in there and get people moving, cleaning, and...
