Solid coffee shop for the downriver area. I'm originally from this area but live on the East Coast now. I was visiting and was surprised there was a coffee shop let alone a roaster in the area. I really like the layout of the place, music area, and the roaster is out in the open. They had some bagged beans by the register, all different prices. You have to ask a worker how much they're as they don't have it posted which does waste a few moments. In addition, I am similar to another reviewer that likes the dates printed on the bag. It's not hard to add the date on the bag (most roasters do). The workers there didn't know when the beans were roasted but said the boss does it like every 3 days. I value fresh beans, not 2 week old beans or grocery store coffee.
I bought the bag of single origin guatemala. At first when I tried, my gosh so bitter, but not stale. After a few days finally the flavor started coming out in the coffee. Solid roaster, but please add the dates, if it's washed or not, and have prices listed even with a paper sign by the bags. Looking forward to trying again when I am back...
Read moreUpdated Review: Sep. 16th, 2022. WORST/WEIRDEST experience we've encountered. This used to be our go to coffee place (wrote good review 2 years ago about them) but today we went in and were ignored the whole time. Took a while for someone to help us and while our drinks are being made the barista runs to the back (after we very politely mentioned oat milk preference as she was putting in wrong milk product in our drinks) and comes back out crying. Several guys were sitting in there (I'm guessing owners/managers) and finally one ot them got up and helped her as others came in and perhaps made her overwhelmed. Very disappointed in this place as it was one of our families favourites. Returned today to a very dirty (trash and dirt all over floors) and employees/management sitting down ignoring guests until they'd seen barista crying (perhaps from being overwhelmed doing all the orders/working alone). Will definitely Not Recommended Fresh Bean to anyone...
Read moreThey market themselves as a huge coffee roastery. I was excited to come in and try some beans roasted here Downriver. When I came in, I saw that most of the menu is sugary drinks. I had a bad feeling when I looked over and saw a Bunn brewer, which means their last batch was probably brewed hours ago and this coffew was cold. When I asked the person working "What coffees are you brewing right now?", he said "I don't know." He asked the other employee, then came back and said "the coffees we have are small, medium, large." I asked him "ok, but what beans are they? Light roast, dark roast... ?" He said "small, medium, large." Lmao. Imagine marketing yourself as a coffee roastery with a lot of different coffees on the menu, then not being able to answer this. I asked him if the lattes charged per pump of syrup, he said I don't know. I ended up walking out without getting anything. McDonald's gives me a better coffee...
