I called to order food at 9:10 which I have called even later than that before but it was definitely before closing hours! so I called to order food on 4/19/2019 and the lady told me they don’t take orders after 9:30 which it wasn’t 9:30 so I proceeded to say well I’ve called around 9:15 before and they were fine with taking my order she said well I can ask manager I just hung the phone up because I was literally 1 minute away so I just decided to go inside I asked her can she take my order they had Open doors still it’s not 9:30 yet at all probably about 9:12 she said Yes I can are you Andrea I told her no I’m not and I ordered my food her attitude was very snobbish and she act as if she was irritated because they were getting business which I don’t understand because it’s not her business operation how can you turn down paying customers if there’s a closing time you have to honor that! I’ve worked in food industry being a manager for over 6 years I know how it works Anyways as I’m waiting there’s customers dinning in eating and ordering food the two guys whom prepare the sushi looked very annoyed and disgusted to be at work so I seen one guy leave while I was waiting the other guy was changing his clothes in front of customers and around food which is a health hazard and safety hazard the woman walked up asked him to give her a side of extra ginger for the customers he told her no and slammed the whole bucket of ginger on top of the counter so that she can get it her self and she said “I can’t get it” but he didn’t care now she’s dealing with customers , money, walk ins and cleaning up and she grabbed the ginger out of the bucket without washing her hands another health hazard cross contamination and a bunch more unsanitary things going on she then put the remaining bucket of ginger by the cash register where public customers pay for their food at and left the plastic wrap half off of it and it just sat there. So by this time it’s about 9:20 the chef in the back is making my habachi meal and he keeps looking through the opening at me so it start to make me wonder why like is he trying to do something he’s not supposed to be doing but I let it go so by 9:25 my food was ready a black girl gave me my food I checked it I asked her can I get a side of sriracha sauce she said no I cant go get it I said can you get it from the chef that prepared my food she said No! So I said okay and I told her their customer service skills are terrible and they should get it together she sarcastically yelled HAVE A NICE DAY HAVE A NICE DAY! so I thought about it and it’s about 9:27 now I went back in and requested my money back because they were VERY rude and the original women came to the desk ask me why I want my money back I told her I don’t like how I was treated she said well we can’t take orders at this and that time “so she says” I said not only that I asked for a simple sauce and the girl told me no she said we can’t go back there but I never asked her to I asked her to get me some sauce nicely just as if I was a dinning customer and they would have to service my request she was just being lazy and rude so she start to try to argue with me I told her Just give me my money back I’m not arguing so she voided the order but it doesn’t say cash back on receipt and she gave me someone else’s receipt with their card info on it she didn’t even give me my original receipt the money isn’t refunded on my card $20.00 and she asked for ID I couldn’t find it I said one second she said never mind and handed me receipts so now she’s putting their company in jeopardy because you don’t know if that card was mine or not without My ID your now violating cash procedures that’s fraud All I know is Sushi q need to get it together I’ve been going there for awhile and so does my family but I’ll make sure we do not anymore and to think every time I visit the owner comes out and loves my daughter all of the staff loves my daughter and want to touch her and hold her and give her balloons and for them to treat me this way was very eye opening...
Read moreThis review is just based on first impressions. We came here based on reviews. Upon entering, not sure if they were short staffed that day or time (Tuesday at 630 pm) but there was one workers the hostess who was doing it all, alone. Felt for her. However upon entering she initially ignored us but then directed us to sit towards the front. Not at a specific table. I chose a table closest to the bar for we had a toddler who needed a highchair, the tables are stacked closely together so this made the most sense for us…and the table closest to window had plates and cups so I didn’t want people fiddling around us or trying to get around us with dishes with a toddler in tow. however after sitting at this table for 5 mins (no water, utensils or menus) our party arrived and THEN we were told by the same hostess “I said sit over there.” So rudely and sharply the party was instantly put off. Then our party guest retrieved the highchair themselves but it was an actual fabric highchair that you would have in a private residence… it would’ve been fine if it wasn’t dirty. And again totally get it as a parent things are not pristine but it was just all the added additions. 10 mins in no menus, water, poor greeting. We decided this wasn’t working and needed to leave (again had a toddler who was hungry so we were kind of in a rush) but even upon getting up to leave..no one attempted to stop us, just my guest said to the hostess using the toddler as an excuse she basically said, bye….. not a good first impression or warm entrance which...
Read moreI ate in here a few weeks ago. Since it was right around the holidays, I decided to treat myself after shopping at Southland mall. I had been craving sushi for a while so I stopped at this place.
While I do think that the Black Pine (sushi place) just down the road a bit is slightly better, this place certainly isn't bad.
The service at Sushi Q is exceptional. They are very prompt, friendly and helpful. I ordered iced tea and every time my glass near empty, the waitress raced over to refill it. And though I am relatively familiar with sushi menu items, she highlighted and described everything that I told her I wanted.
I ended up ordering the daisy rolls. It came with a salad, which had excellent ginger dressing. It tasted like it had a hint of soy sauce and sesame oil in it as well.
The rolls that I ordered were decent. I requested that I the tuna was raw, which I do believe it was. However, I was hoping that the tuna was a whole piece and not chopped up and shoved into the roll. But that may be what a traditional daisy roll is.
I assume that this place does a heck of a carryout business. In comparison to Black Pine, Sushi Q seems to have a smaller capacity. Like most sushi places, they prepare the sushi in plain sight.
Overall, while the rolls that I ordered didn't particularly exceed expectation, the place is still very good and would recommend. Prior to this visit, I've ordered rolls and other items that were great. The place is also very clean and reasonably priced. The service though is...
