My husband and I are always on the look out for new places to try locally, he came across Wildwood in his searching and we decided to make a date night of it. First and foremost, many thanks to Alexandra (Ali) for her wonderful service and attention as she was helpful and patient when it came to all of our questions. This was our first time dining at Wildwood and she made a wonderful impression. For our mains we ordered a ribeye and the chicken fried steak. I am often hesitant to order medium rare as I’ve had the unfortunate experience of it being overcooked by the time I get it at the table. However this is not the case here. I asked for medium rare on my ribeye and that’s exactly what I got! The seasoning they used complemented the steak and it was not overly salty. The same is said for the chicken fried steak. At times it can be over-salted and dried out, we are happy to say that it was neither at this establishment. The crust was light and crispy while not over salted or greasy, even with the cream gravy. As good as it was some elements of our meal were, unfortunately, over seasoned. I added shrimp to my meal and requested spinach, both were too salty. While not a deal breaker for me, (I usually end up adding salt to my food) it might be a point of contention for some and my husband was unable to try either. The cast iron Mac and cheese had a mild flavor and over all was presented well, but was far too dry for being a Mac and cheese. We found it to be heavy on the bread crumbs and that may have contributed to the dryness of the dish over all. When we think of Mac and cheese, we think of a creamier consistency and not a dry finish. Having said that, the meal as an experience was great! The biggest, and really only “issues” my husband and I both had were the green beans. We appreciate the utilization of fresh green beans, but while not over cooked and flavorful, they should be trimmed of stem and ends. We ended up getting a twig or two while eating them and it’s just not pleasant to have to dig them out of your mouth while eating. Our desserts were VERY good; bread and banana pudding, and a special thank you to the food runner (I apologize, I didn’t get his name) for confirming the “no pecans” on the bread pudding, as he and I both have issues with tree nut allergies. Our dining experience overall was wonderful. We will be back and thank you again so much to the staff for a wonderful meal and experience on our...
Read moreI really have thought long and hard about writing this review, however after reading some of the most recent reviews I feel that it is important to share our experience. Let me first preface this by saying we have eaten at the Firewheel location many times and have been blown away by the quality of our food, the amazing service and over all fabulous experience we have repeatedly had at that location. We live in North Worth and our son and fiance live in Wylie, it has quickly became a favorite for us!
With that being said, we tried the Southlake location expecting a similar experience. We phoned from the parking lot to see what the check situation was due to Covid, we were advised that the wait was minimal and to come on in. We came in and was seated quickly, that is where the positive experience ended. We ordered our drinks and an appetizer. Our drinks made it to the table and the first sip was pure syrup. I assume that the tea is sweeten individually you could literally see a clear substance a the bottom of the glass. Each time our glass was refilled it seemed to have less and less ice in it. We ordered, I ordered the Mac n cheese and my husband ordered a burger. We waited and waited and waited our server finally came to check on us and informed us our food would be there soon and I asked where the appetizer was and the server said "I guess I forgot to put it in?" no apology, he didn't asked if we still wanted it, he didn't send a manager over to check on us..... nothing! My Mac n Cheese was nasty and my husband didn't much care for the burger, I would usually mark it up as poor choices on our part however it impacted the overall experience. Our server did manage to get one thing correct, we have a very picky 5 year old autistic grandson and we asked is we could just order the fresh fruit in a larger portion than the side and he was able to provide that for us. Overall very disappointed in this location. I truly...
Read moreI really appreciate how the owner was trying to correct what his kitchen couldn’t do but his kitchen staff kind of stabbing him in the back. Had the $40 dollar center cut special came out first well done when orders medium well. Took 35 mins for them to Finnish the first rounds of plates. The other person with me had the chicken fried steak and it was abt almost cold and soggy in some parts but she seemed to still enjoy it. The staff here was very attentive and I honestly think if they did a revise on their menu things could work out better. The meat almost was on par with cardne asada tacos and not really steak. This place has potential and I appreciate how they went out of there way to try and make me feel welcome even though their kitchen was struggling. Just fyi it’s an open kitchen concept so when you sit you see them cooking and your able to visualize how long and how everything taste. The pretzel bread was about the best thing to come to the table but the cheese dip provided with it was really too Rich it hurt my stomach but I’m lactose intolerant so it’s prolly why. I would love to try this place again just on a different day when the cooks are more happy. Side note for management I would like them to read this. Sitting there watching seeing no communication with the back until 20 mins before close is really concerning and probably why the kitchen is dysfunctional because no one is talking to any of there team and it looked like they were working against themselves back there it was a mad house. Whoever also was doing quality and assurance could of been more attentive and brought the fried food out first thing when it hit the window so it would not be soggy but choose to be on his phone and wait for the second plate. Which is ok if my plate didn’t take an extra 15...
