Overall, it was a solid 3-star experience. We arrived and stood by the door for a few minutes before anyone acknowledged us, even though we made eye contact with the servers. That was a bit surprising given how small the indoor dining area is. Speaking of small, they don’t have a restroom inside, so you have to walk around the building and go up to the second floor to use the bathroom. The menu isn’t huge but covers the Mexican staples — tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas — along with a few Latin American dishes like yuca and empanadas. The yuca nachos were honestly the highlight of the meal, really tasty. The enchiladas, though, were pretty disappointing; the chicken was super bland, and there wasn’t even an option to make it spicy. The rice and beans that came with it were just okay, nothing memorable. We also got a burrito and decided to double its size, which in hindsight wasn’t necessary. The regular portion is big enough! Two people could easily share the doubled version. The pork in the burrito had way more flavor than the chicken in the enchiladas. What was strange, though, was that the burrito didn’t automatically come with cheese; you had to pay extra for it. That’s like ordering a lobster roll and being charged extra for mayo. The total came to $75 after tip, for one appetizer, two entrees, and a Dos XX beer ($6).

Wow! Okay, so I grew up eating authentic Mexican food and this place really hit home on the flavor profile. It was one of the best places I've ever been to including the food I've had in Mexico. Flavors pop at every bite. They also make the tortillas in house. We ordered the carne asada and the barbacoa beef burritos. Both were delicious. I wish we could add more toppings without the added cost. We ordered the barbacoa beef with pico de gallo and the fresh herb chimichurri and the carne asada with pico de gallo and the corn salsa. The only recommendation I would have is to put more pico de gallo in the burritos. The first bite was the best and I wish I could've had that flavor at every bite if the pico was more concentrated and dispersed through the entirety of the burrito. Not to mention the burritos were humongous and enough for two days of eating. One of the owners was very personable and talked with us while we waited for the other owner to prepare our food. He gave our dog a few treats and had a nice conversation with us. They are obviously dog friendly with outdoor seating. Definitely a place to visit time and time again if in the area.

I had high hopes for this restaraunt and I was a bit disappointed. I asked for a recommendation and the Tropical burrito was recommended (which was the most expensive burrito on the menu at $20). It's the one with shrimp and pineapple salsa. First of all, I really wish they warned you about the size of the burritos. We were just coming in for a quick lunch and had we known we would have only ordered one. They are absolutely enormous. One burrito is more than enough for 2 adults, especially for lunch. Secondly, my burrito was 90% plain white rice and black beans. I ate about 25% of it and I only got 1.5 shrimps. They were big shrimp and tasted good but the proportions were just disappointing. Most of my bites were just rice and beans. I would have preferred a smaller burrito with half the amount of rice. They are doing some stuff right...I must say the tortilla is delicious. My partners burrito was actually much better and had a lot more ingredients in it (he ordered the burrito that had ground beef). But overall I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

I can’t stress enough how wonderful of an experience it is to go to Bub’s burrito. First of all, if you think, you have seen some giant burritos in your life, go to Bub’s and adjust your sense of scale. But you know, size isn’t everything and I’ve been to places when it becomes a chore because the food isn’t that great. Well not Bub’s burrito! Every bite is just making you grateful that there is so much more to be consumed! The taste is just fantastic. I had the breakfast burrito (several times now) and the combination of eggs, beans chorizo and plantains is just genius. I visited Bub’s Burritos in previous location last year and I swear even though I love MDI for many things, as far as food goes, Bub’s Burrito was on top of my list to visit when I returned this year. People at Bub’s burrito are so friendly and welcoming it just warms your heart. We talked a bit and I’ve learned a bit how much care and time they put into preparation (all the marinating and slow cooking). It was a wonderful experience. For those of you visiting with children - the location is right by great playground, so you can easily entertain your kid while waiting for this absolute delight of a burrito to brighten your day. Thank you people at Bub’s, you are doing an amazing job and I can’t wait to...
