We've eaten multiple times ,at the original and here and everytime the food ,sauces ect ect are different! There's a reason why there are recipes !!!! To follow them ! They are using seasoning that we Cubans spanish dont use, the food in general is far away from the quality of the original one, they need to bring the cook from hialeah gardens asap...since we've been going here they have screwed up 4 different plates and pretty bad ..the biggest example was today with the seafood casserole that was great 2 months ago and today was horrendous !!! There a reason why there are Recipes!!!! To follow them !! So you are consistent with the food, the worst thing a restaurant can have is inconsistency ,that kills the purpose of the plates and the name of the place ...and that's why there are restaurants that have been opened 20,25,30,40 years and others have to close in a few years , you cant have a cuban spanish seafood place and cook differently because of the make up of the area, that takes the authenticity out , you dont go to a jamaican place to have jerk chicken non spicy right ? Well , I dont expect to order a cazuela de mariscos at Adrians or a arroz con mariscos and taste things like cilantro or culantro or some weird cooking wine that totally and completely damaged the plates ...inconsistency destroys the purpose of the recipe!! I'm sorry, but as someone who cooks these plates the right way I was very dissapointed time after time....follow the darn recipes please ! I've know Adrian s cooking for years ,and Adrian s can really be amazing because they have the right product, as a wine & food enthusiast with hundreds of reviews in over 40 states and at 7 states that we lived , my review is not at all to come across negative but to help Adrian s and Leandro ,who I know personally, if I had a restaurant I will want to know how is really the food coming out , and that's what im trying to do here, help help help because I know Adrian a potential have no limits , keep a close eye in the kitchen , and remember, follow recipes , discipline ,consistency and you will be just fine !! let me know if I can be of any help..Saludos to all...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place but after my visit I'm not sure I would ever go back. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a very nautical theme. Everyone seemed friendly and there were a lot of people working. We waited a bit long for our server to come and take our order. The menu is vague and doesn't explain ingredients, how dishes are prepared, or what comes with your meal so we had many questions for our waiter. Unfortunately his English was not extensive, so although he tried, the answers were vague. We had asked about the difference in portions between the fish plate and sandwich and all we could understand was that the sandwich was smaller. How much smaller? We found out when the food arrived.
The Mahi platter had a nice portion of fish, probably between 6-8 oz. It was ordered grilled, and it seemed fresh and cooked well but very blah. It was only flavored with salt, and a lot of it. There were sauces you could add to the fish at an additional charge so I guess you should do that if you want your fish to have some flavor. The side of plantains was tasty but only had three very small pieces. Compared to a normal portion you would get in a Latin restaurant, it seemed like they took one piece and cut it in thirds. The side salad was shredded iceberg lettuce with a few slices of tomato and red onion. It was the lettuce you get as a topping on a sandwich not in a salad.
The sandwich was served on a puffy cuban bread roll that dwarfed the petite portion of grouper, around 3-4 ounces. It was ordered blackened but that seemed only like they added some pepper. It had very little flavor from the seasoning and the fish itself had a iodine flavor. It comes with fries but I had asked for the salad instead and was sorry.
I'm sure there are items on the menu that have more interesting preparations but we were looking for the fresh fish to be well presented and found the flavors lacking. Not bad food but...
Read moreIncredibly disappointed with the food across the board, and service was lackluster. We experienced all of the following: Waiter took a while to check up on our table multiple times; had to wait 15-20 minutes after getting water to have our orders taken, and had no check-up on us while waiting 45 minutes to an hour for our food. Fried calamari appetizer platter was good but came out cold. Grilled octopus tasted good, but the sauce it came in was burnt, leading to most parts tasting like the grill. Ordered a seafood boil that had unclean shrimp and lobster pieces that had a cleaning product smell (lobster might have been either old or already dead while thrown into the boil, which can cause food poisoning). Ordered the Adrian fish combination with snapper, which came out cold and the snapper was incredibly overcooked and tough. -Ordered a paella that came 10 minutes late; was brought a completely different order. The crab came marinated in a sofrito, but had very little crab and didn’t taste much of crab. The sofrito overall tasted good though. Fried fish sandwich came out well. Was a served a dish recommended by the waiter, and was charged $40 for it (it was a seafood with rice dish that was akin to paella). The seafood with rice was $20 and the paella was $26 by the way. Waiter also gave an incorrect amount for the king crab in the boil and was charged more for it...
