A Taste of Cuba Right Here in Spartanburg! đ¨đşđĽ
My nameâs Jose, and today I discovered a true hidden gem: Roll-In Cuban in Spartanburg, SC. From the very first bite, it instantly took me back to Florida, where Iâm originally from. Since moving out here, Iâve been desperately searching for that authentic Caribbean flavor I grew up with, and finally, I found it.
If youâre a Floridian, a fellow lover of Cuban cuisine, or just someone who appreciates bold, flavorful Caribbean food, this is your spot. The moment I stepped in, I felt the warmth, not just from the welcoming atmosphere, but from the genuine Cuban hospitality. The music was vibrant but not overpowering, the tropical vibes and decor were on point, and everything from the food to the environment felt authentic and full of life.
I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Percival Damil, who personally came out to check on us, something you rarely see these days. I told him straight up: âIâm from Florida, and THIS is exactly the flavor Iâve been missing.â The ropa vieja with tostones and croquetas were absolutely đĽ. Each bite was like a trip back home. And no, Iâm not Cuban, but Cuban food? You just canât go wrong. Itâs Caribbean soul food at its finest.
This isnât just good food, itâs an experience. If I could give it a 10-star rating, I would. And trust me, Iâll be back weekly from Greenville just to get my fix. I still havenât tried their Cuban sandwiches, but you better believe I will next time.
If youâre in Spartanburg, Greenville, or just passing through South Carolina, make this your next food stop. Whether youâre looking for: ⢠The best Cuban food near me ⢠Authentic Cuban cuisine in Spartanburg ⢠A Caribbean restaurant with real soul âŚRoll-In Cuban is IT.
Chef Damil, if youâre reading this, gracias de corazĂłn. You brought the flavor, the energy, and the love. Oh, and to anyone reading this far:
ÂĄNo deje que se le muera un tĂo! đ (Insider joke, but trust me, youâll get it...

As a South Carolinian, I wanted my first experience with this prolific sandwich to be from a place that specializes in Cuban cuisine. How fortuitous, then, that a new Cuban restaurant had just opened down the road! Today, I decided to give them a try and experience Cuban food for the first time.
Tucked into the corner of the Cedar Springs shopping center, this quaint little slice of Cuba welcomed me in. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the rich aroma of warm bread and a medley of seasonings. The atmosphere was vibrantâbright colors adorned the walls, Cuban music played in the background, and homemade tables invited guests to dine in.
At the counter, a young woman, who I later learned is the ownerâs daughter, greeted me warmly after finishing up with a customer. As I placed my order for a Cuban sandwich, we struck up a conversation about Cuban cuisine and our shared love of cable TV dramas. Before long, my food arrivedâa small bundle of pure decadence.
I have to be honest: having never had a Cuban sandwich before, I donât have a point of comparison. But if this is the standard, then I pity any sandwich that has to follow. The pork was incredibly tender, the mustard added just the right touch of bitterness, and the tangy crunch of the pickles brought it all together in a perfect balance of flavors. And the breadâcrispy on the outside, warm and soft on the insideâwas absolute perfection.
Iâll definitely be coming back. Supporting local businesses is important to me, and I truly hope this familyâs venture thrives for years to come. Next time, Iâm trying the plantains. Overall, a 10 out of 10âthe service was fantastic, the wait time was reasonable, the flavors were outstanding, and the value was great.
Now, if youâll excuse me, I have some Dexter...
