I decided on a whim to stop in with a friend to try this place, and I wish I hadn't. When we first showed up, we were noticed by two of the staff, but were not greeted, or seated for a good few minutes. We were the only ones in line, and there were maybe only 3 or 4 other people sat in the whole restaurant. Once we were finally seated, we did not see our server for over ten minutes. During that ten minutes, two people were sat down next to us, and they had their order taken, and their food served before our server even took our order. When our server finally made it over to us, we ordered our drinks and food at the same time, since we had no idea how long it would be until we saw them again. Another 15+ minutes later, food had arrived! However, we still had to remind our server that we had still not received our drinks (we had been sat at the table for about 30 minutes at this point). Once we FINALLY had our food and drinks, they were sub-par, in that we could have gotten the same quality if we stayed home and made breakfast ourselves. Aside from the food quality, towards the end of our time at this place, two of the employees decided to have a conversation about someones medical troubles, loud enough for my friend and I, and the other close proximity tables to hear.. Let's just say, I don't enjoy hearing about someone having to get their uterus burned while I'm having breakfast... And finally, after all of that, now we were waiting to get the check, which came lightning fast by the way! As I went to hand our server the card, they said we pay up front, so away we went, to the front counter. At the front counter, again, we were looked at by the cashier, but were left waiting until they finished the task they were doing. As if our inconvenience of having to pay for our mediocre breakfast couldn't get any worse, the cashier took my card, swiped once, and the machine "couldn't read it". The cashier then said "you need a new card", then proceeded to enter my card manually, which took (im not exaggerating) another 5 minutes. Eventually, they figured it out, and then we were free to leave the building! Talk about purgatory.. *Side note, I'm not sure if its a coincidence or not, but the next day (after them manually putting in my card information) I got a call from my banks fraud center saying they froze my account because someone across the country was trying to get into my account!:D) Long story short, theres nothing on this planet that could compel us to step...
Read moreI live less than a mile from this restaurant. My daughter and I visit at least every couple of weeks for dinner. Aside from my family and friends, I have brought in our soccer team and also colleagues. A group of us gals (four women and three children) visited today and had the absolute worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. The restaurant was busy so we were glad we called ahead and made reservations for our party. After placing our orders, we waited over an hour while we watched three other tables in our section get seated after us and enjoy their food. During this period of time we asked how much longer it would be, we were met with rolled eyes and shrugged shoulders and given a "wait time" in "ticket orders". "It's going to be awhile, there are still 10/12 tickets in front of yours." How is that possible after waiting for so long and seeing every other table get their food (which totaled the same amount of people as our party). Then we were told "6 tickets". No one could tell us a time frame. After an hour, we asked for our checks for our beverages from an older woman who was annoyed with our request and said it was taking so long because we had a large party (which again we called ahead of time and made reservations for). Maybe the time frame wouldn't have been so bad if someone/anyone would have set the expectation that our food would come out after everyone else's, even the people who were sat way after us. Or if maybe ONE person would have been kind and not seem annoyed when we politely asked about a time frame. The only person who apologized to me was the nice lady at the register. While the food is very good, the service can definitely use an upgrade and for that reason and our experience today, our family will...
Read moreWhen I was a kid growing up in the valley, my grandparents would take me here often. Since my husband and I moved back to the valley we've long talked about going here, and we finally did on Saturday.
I'm pretty sure they haven't changed a thing in the 14+ years it's been since I've been here, aside from getting rid of the old player piano. The carpet has certainly seen better days. Our server was great, until she went on break and nobody else came to check on us. We waited for a server to even come within earshot (we were in the main room) for 15 minutes so that we could have our drinks refilled and get pie, but no one ever came, so we paid and left.
Now on to the food. We didn't realize you couldn't get breakfast all day (like at most places like this), so that was annoying to discover that breakfast had just ended when we showed up at 1:15 on a Saturday. The thing that really irritated me the most, even more than the abysmal service, was the menu. It has approximately 843 items on it. They do not offer one single item that is vegetarian-friendly, which in today's day and age is just absurd. You have burgers on the menu? Why don't you throw a box of veggie burgers in the freezer?
I wound up ordering the "pots o' gold," potato skins covered in cheddar and bacon. Except minus the bacon. I could have easily made the same thing at home, except I wouldn't let it sit under a warmer and get tough and chewy before eating it. Their food is overpriced to top it all off. I suppose if the service hadn't been so terrible I'd be willing to give this place a second chance for breakfast, but I...
