I sympathize with understaffing in establishments, I really do. However, when you and your spouse are finally able to set down and enjoy something to eat, 1st meal for the day to boot, after a rigorous day, you hope to be able to do just that... sit down, relax, and enjoy your meal! This, unfortunately, was anything but that!
After being seated in a nice quiet section, we were looking forward to ordering one of Denny's highly advertised meals. Evidently, several of those items are only sold during certain hours (11-11). Which seems very odd in a 24-hour establishment. Unaware of this, we were thinking, "thank God we arrived before the cut of time". About 15 min. before (22:45). However, by the time we were seated and finally waited on, there was only 1 min. before the cut-off and we were told those items were no longer available to order. Although that was a little frustrating, we thought, "ok, no big deal, we'll just choose something else."
We were initially grateful for the quiet booth we were seated in until the waiter seated 4 EXTREMELY OBNOXIOUS teenagers right beside us. They slid their disgusting glass filled with, I don't know what, passed the dived glass over to where my husband was setting. They obviously had no respect or regard for other people trying to eat, as they continuously banged their silverware and were extremely loud! The longer the wait, the more obnoxious they got. After about 45 min. into waiting, the teens were saying they were going leave since they still hadn't had the order taken. The waiter just so happened to walk up at that time and took their order. Also reassuring us our food would be out "shortly". After waiting for well over an hour (& trying desperately to ignore the table next to us), our food finally arrived!
The food was pretty good, other than the salmon was highly over seasoned (very salty)!
Ohh, and when we were leaving, we asked to speak to the manager, who apparently didn't want to speak to us, as he never came out to talk to us.
After so many things, my husband, an extremely laid back guy, said,"I'll never come to this location again!"
Suggestion... if you do go here, I wouldn't go...
Read moreMy last visit here was mediocre at best so I must admit I only came again because my friend M was the one driving. Her two kiddos A & L were also present. This visit was certainly more successful. It was reasonably busy though not super busy that day and it took a while for our server to finally pop up. Drinks had started trickling in by then even if it did take three attempts for my water to finally arrive and actually stay on the table and two requests for a smoothie A had ordered. The waters were never topped off, but service was accommodating for a change for L's drink container and the requested real milk for the coffee vs. the little creamer pods. Our server was friendly and on the ball and is why the confusion of the drink situation finally settled. My companions were all vegetarians but I'm not and the server added any meat on their orders to mine with M's permission (awesome). M & I ordered the strawberry cream-filled crepes, A the choco-bannana pancakes and L the little pancake hush puppies with an egg on the side. A was happy with their pancakes. L's puppies were overcooked but they were still happy with them. My crepes were well done and the hashbrowns were excellent, but the strawberry sauce was not as plentiful or fresh as it could have been (a few berries had the mushy texture & off flavor they get when too old), the bacon was good, but the sausage was overcooked and dry. All eggs the table ordered were over easy and I will say that all but one were perfectly cooked and the one was only slightly overcooked. The difference in services for the two visits has added this spot back to the maybe list instead of the definite no I've had it on for several months after it took over 20 minutes for someone to take a drink order let alone the main order and then a further 30 for two dessert orders to arrive for my daughter and myself. It was late at night and there were few booths occupied. I had already finished my coffee (not very good) and we were discussing leaving when the desserts finally arrived. (One worth the wait, the other not. I only remember an apple pie thing;...
Read moreUsed hotel vouchers from the nearby inn, be very careful how you use them because apparently the everyday value slam promised for free on the voucher along with a small beverage is not in fact free, charged us for the 6.99 everyday value slam which is supposed to come with three options from the list provided (we ordered 2 eggs and 2 orders of 2 pancakes which we were told would work with the voucher) as well as an apple juice which we were told would be free with the voucher. We also ordered an 18.29 meal and a coffee which we wanted to take $7 off of. Our receipt ended up costing 37.96 (without tax or tip) because they rung up the everday value slam PLUS, the apple juice, one order of wo pancakes, and bacon (which we recieved none of). They did take off $14 for the vouchers but charged us for those three things they said were free with the slam plus the $7 everday slam. The manager immediately had an attitude with us on the phone when we tried to get refunded the difference. They said we couldn't get two orders of pancakes with the everyday slam even thought we were told we could, that the everday slams only come with eggs, pancakes, and meat (which I guess should have been the bacon, but again, we also paid for it and received NO bacon when I guess we should have had four). This was also the explanation for the applejuice, that even thought it says you get it on the voucher, it's not free. Therefore the only solution they offered was we could come and get bacon. Absolutely ridiculous that we paid around $17 extra and left a $5 tip as well for the slow service we recieved (took a while to even get our check and our coffee) and that the voucher and server promised more than we got for free. Also ridiculous how our situation was handled by the manager. Apparently refunds are out of...
