I stopped by Rockwood Bakery in the Rockwood neighborhood of Spokane after visiting Twisted Stitch Yarn. The bakery is a sizeable location with serious traffic on a Saturday. Even then, there was plenty of seating in the back of the big space. And there are quite a few large tables for bigger groups.
I loved the energy in the front of the store and the staff is quite nice. The clerk addressed me almost immediately when I stood in front of the baked goods display case. I liked that because I didn’t have to go chasing someone. That was good.
The snickerdoodle cookie I bought was massive. It wasn’t a little tidbit. This was a cookie the size of a desert plate. I love it. And, most importantly it tasted really good. It was a good road snack as I traveled around Spokane working on business.
I love the hand written menu - it’s a fun touch. It beats the plastic electronic displays. It gives you a comfortable feel like it’s a small location. The warm plank flooring adds to the feel of the location. It’s a bit different than the more modern outside,...

RCW 46.61.570 Stopping, standing, or parking prohibited in specified places- In front of a public or private driveway or within five feet of the end of the curb radius leading thereto
Is this so difficult to be mindful of??? Respect and not hindering homeowners from turning into our homes without extra time spent to not hit vehicles parked so close????This bakery needs to post this law at the entrance and they would if they cared about the neighbors whose streets are invaded every day by their patrons!!! There is no concern on their end and apparently too many people have no care or respect as everyday someone parks blocking our driveways partially and even totally!!! Dispicable entitled people with no regard for others and their property. If you park any closer than 5 feet from any driveway on 18th ave to visit this bakery, I am no longer calling or coming in to have you move; I am having your...
Read moreThe single best cafe in Spokane.
While there are others (Vessel, Atticus) aiming to serve incredible coffee and probably offering a better cup, the experience of Rockwood Bakery is unparalleled. In a city where everyone seeks to be ahead of the curve in meeting and exceeding the latest trends, Rockwood Bakery isn't trying to be anything; it is perhaps the only authentic venue in all of Spokane, a genuine family-friendly, all ages welcomed and comfortable coffee shop like you'd expect from a smaller town. It is an incredibly welcome change from Spokane's exhaustingly hipster "look at me!" culture.
This location is perfect for grabbing a day-old discount pastry, a coffee, a comfy chair and a book. The staff is remarkably friendly, the prices are great, and the aptmosphere is clean and peaceful....
