Response to owner:
I appreciate your detailed response. I leave an honest review almost every place I go. Most of my reviews are 5 stars! As a business owner, you are not required to have Google reviews and can’t realistically expect all 5 star reviews. Negative reviews are not meant to hurt businesses, but to provide constructive feedback and valuable insights into customer experiences and can help businesses grow by highlighting areas for improvement. The fly situation was a major part of my experience at your restaurant. Why would I not include that in my review? Yes, we were by a door- but if propping that door open leads to a major fly problem inside, then my hope is that by including that in my review, it will prompt you to close the door, eliminating the fly problem, and making a more enjoyable experience for future guests & possibly not having future negative reviews about flies. I understand that there are some reviewers that are vindictive, but the vast majority don’t have a personal vendetta against you- they’re simply giving honest feedback. I read back over your responses to some honest reviews, and my position remains the same. Especially with a young business in an area that many new businesses historically don’t last long- it would be wise to respond with care and kindness, even if you feel that their complaint is invalid, malicious, or they’re trying to put you out of business for whatever reason. People will see your heart through your responses, even if they’ve never met you in person. Lastly, the restaurant wasn’t busy at all during our long wait for the bathroom.
Initial review:
We’ve lived in Spring Hill for 5 years and have never heard of this place. I did a quick Google search for brunch places in Spring Hill and we decided to give it a try.
Let’s start with the positives: Super cute environment! I loved the vibe and the decor. The food was great, for the most part. Everything was flavorful & fresh. I had a bite of my son’s French toast and it was probably the best French toast I’ve ever had!
Negatives: We ordered at the kiosk. Since we’ve never been here before, we weren’t familiar with the menu. It took a while to order and I felt rushed since there were people behind me. It also asked for a tip before service was provided. I am NEVER a fan of this since I tip based on the quality of the service provided. Since you order yourself, seat yourself, get your own napkins, etc. I’m not really sure what I’m tipping for. I would hope a business that is run like this would pay a livable wage so tips aren’t necessary. Maybe they do, I don’t know? I did tip 20%, even though I was very hesitant. If my husband would have been with us, they would not have gotten a tip at all. Anyway, we got a cute table and sat down. Our drinks came out promptly, followed by our food. Like I mentioned, the food was great! The only problem with the food is that my brunch burger was absolutely enormous. There was no possible way to bite into it… at all. There also weren’t knives? It was literally the messiest food experience ever. While it tasted good, it wasn’t practical, especially without proper silverware. While we were eating, the fly situation was OUT OF CONTROL! They were all over our table, flying around us, and on my silverware and plate. I’m not sure why the door was propped open. Unfortunately, even if we said something, there would have been no way to rectify this situation during our meal. Lastly, there is one single bathroom for the entire restaurant (that we could find, anyway). My daughter and I both waited for the bathroom for an unreasonable amount of time.
I would normally be willing to try this restaurant out again, but I am overwhelmingly disheartened reading some of the abrasive responses by the owner to people giving less than perfect reviews. I’m not sure why the owner doesn’t realize that hostile and sarcastic responses will only escalate the issue, leading to negative publicity and potentially deterring future customers. It’s unprofessional, and most of all, unkind. People talk...
Read moreThe Brunch Collective: A Blend of Chaos, Charm, and California Soul
The Brunch Collective. Just the name alone had been simmering on my list of must-visit spots for what feels like forever. And while some reviews warned of chaos and a bit of disorganization, I chalked that up to the weekend rush, when everyone in town decides to stumble in. But let me tell you, when my wife and I finally walked through the doors of that charming, old Victorian home, all those preconceptions melted away. From the very moment we stepped inside, we felt embraced by a warm, Southern California energy, as if the Pacific breeze had followed us in. The owners, the hosts—they brought that laid-back California vibe straight to our table, and believe me, it flowed into every bite of the meal. But, more on that in a second.
Now, let's talk about that ordering process. Imagine walking into a place with no physical menu in sight. You’re either directed to a machine to place your order or invited to order right from your table via phone. For a moment, we stood there, wondering which way was up, but luckily, since it wasn’t peak hour, the staff graciously walked us through it. It wasn’t chaos—it was just... different. A little unconventional, sure. But hey, isn't that what The Brunch Collective is all about?
As for the menu—don’t expect old-school southern comfort food. The offerings are selective, not sprawling. But what they lack in options, they make up for in flavor. My wife went for the spicy honey apple toast, and let me tell you, the way her face lit up when it arrived could've powered the entire room. It was as cute as it was delicious. And me? Well, I went straight for the family recipe French toast, topped with strawberries and banana. To say it was the best French toast I’ve had in my many short years of living would be an understatement. It had that balance of crispy, soft, and sweet that you can’t quite describe—only savor. Oh, and I didn’t stop there. I also ordered the breakfast burrito with avocado that practically screamed "California" with every bite.
Now, let's talk about the real game-changer: the coffee flight. When I say "flight," I mean it. Three full-sized coffee drinks—each one a different adventure. But here’s where things got bumpy. One drink had oat milk when I specifically asked for whole milk. Another was meant to be iced, but by the time it arrived, the ice had surrendered, leaving it lukewarm and just not what I’d hoped for. Disappointing? A little. I mean, I wanted to fall head over heels for each cup, but hey, two strikes still left me with one great coffee, so I can’t complain too much.
Despite those small hiccups, the food was fresh, the ingredients were limited but high-quality, and the flavors were on point. And the service? Friendly, attentive, and totally on top of things, especially given the unique setup. My advice? Definitely swing by during off-peak hours. This place feels like it thrives in those quieter moments when the California soul truly shines through.
We’ll definitely be back to give The Brunch Collective another shot. Sure, there were a few minor details missed, but they’ve more than earned another visit from us. The vibe, the food, the soul—they all deserve a second chance. Just be sure to snag a spot early if you want to enjoy some of the outdoor seating, which I imagine will be a hot commodity as the weather cools down. Winter? That’ll be an interesting season for them, but I can see why this place is always busy. It's not just a meal here—it's an experience. Definitely...
Read moreI went here for the first time Saturday morning at 10 am with some friends I have not seen in 30+ years. I am going to start off with the parking, they have a lot that is small and you can also do street parking in front. Next, the outside is super cute with various places and spots to mingle from picnic tables to chairs and a chaise, to a tree swing and patio tables. (definitely coming in the fall) When you first walk in there is a pick by the stem flower stand to the right as well as a small backer counter and pick up area. The idea is to seat yourself. We quickly found a seat in the 2nd room upon entering. Upon sitting we discovered that you don't get a menu, you do it the "old covid" way of scanning it to view and even order from your phone which sends the staff the information of what table your at. Now, while I am not old, old and work in tech, it wasn't that bad, but I do prefer a real menu. It was kinda confusing to me whether to add meat to an entree that I thought already had meat and to make a drink "happy size", turns out it was already happy sized. The good part about ordering this way, is that you put your info in already like your email, credit or debit card number and if its already saved in your phone its super fast. No paper receipts as it's emailed to you, so that is great. I would have liked a clearer menu so that it wasn't that confusing what was in the actual dish and what you could add.
The food, was impressively delicious! I had a breakfast burrito bowl with bacon. Bacon from heaven! I think I died with the first bite. Next, you get a little cup of salsa and whomever made it, I would like to bathe in it! OMG best salsa, I was so busy talking I didn't get to ask for extra!
It was a little warm in there so maybe take a handheld fan if you are in the hot flash phase of your life, this is because the servers are running in and out trying to help/accommodate the guests inside and outside.
They were super busy, but every time we asked a question they graciously stopped to answer. They checked on us many times and I am sure wondering when this gang of old ladies were going to leave lol, Thank you to The Brunch Collective for allowing us to sit and chit chat even when we were done eating.
I wish we could have tried the cinnamon rolls that went past our table, but were told they sell out before 9 usually so we will be there super early next time because they looked divine!
I also wish I would have asked how much it costs to make a floral bouquet because I love and buy myself flowers all the time. Next time for sure!
The space was really nicely decorated, they had help yourself water, board games for everyone if you wanted. I also wished I would have went to the counter to see what was in the bakery case. I was just so overwhelmed with a heart full of love from seeing old friends and delicious food. I also forgot to take any pictures of my food or really any pictures what so ever. This just means I have to go back. Thank you...
