This place was decent, had a couple items that were like home,in the past!! They've raised their prices, ok, a lot of places had too. But Chicago Express has watered down the sauce for their Greek Sandwiches. My pita was soaking wet, just fell apart with my chicken kabob sandwich last time, it's been a couple of months, so I tried the chili cheese dog! CANNED CHILI!! French fries were cooked in old grease!!! Cheese sauce for fries was watered down, the consistency of milk!! Plus I got a bottled coke because they charge $4 for a fountain soft drink!! I spent over $14 with the tip! This is fast food, the tip jar in middle of payment counter is just crude!! Done with this place, don't waste your time!! And they don't serve Italian beef on Italian bread!! Pick up your beef it will fall apart!! Italian beef is made to be served on dense heavy bread with a crusty crust!! Not on grocery store bread you find in local grocery!!! Another expensive meal...
Read moreGlad to finally try this place out. People have told me how good the Italian beef is for years. I disagree with those people, now. Fries were pretty dynamite though. If I go back I'm definitely getting a different sandwich. Bread was soaked through immediately, making the side of jus pretty pointless. Giardinera/peppers were great, and to their word they were pretty hot! The meat, however, was the primary component of the sandwich. It was like 80% meat. That's the way sandwiches is. But like, brother, Arby's is some A5 wagyu compared to this beef. 80% of the sandwich is flavorless, gray, and turning the bread into a ShamWow. Confusing, but like I said (wrote) they probably have better items on the menu that would be worth trying. The interior was also deceptively large and it was 88 degrees inside, so that might be a plus if that's something...
Read moreSo, though I may not visit frequently. I find this my place to go to enjoy great food, since I am originally from Chicago. I also have found supporting a local business is great too. I walk in to pickup an simple sandwich and find out the price is now $1.00 more. $6.99 for a sandwich??? I ask the cashier and am told it just went up a week ago. Then I get my receipt and find, without being told, that I have to pay a service fee for using a debit card. Let's see, in business you advise that there will be a fee and how do you justify a service fee on top of a price increase of $1.00 per item. The cost in doing business is setting a price and not charging a service fee on top of the meal when using a debt card. So my visits went from my go to place to finding another business to give my money to for a meal. ...
