I recently had a rough day and needed a sweet treat as pick-me-up. Since moving to Spring Hill, I had been meaning to try this place (I think it used to be named something different).
Anyways, I came inside thinking I'd want to try a mangonada. The staff working that night informed me that the flavor of chamoy (the red sauce mixed with the fruit) can be a divisive ingredient (people either hate it or love it). She steered me over to the paletas and pointed out the mango-chamoy flavor and then showed me a beautiful fruit & cream paleta with pieces strawberries, mango, and kiwi. I got both and I'm glad I did.
That worker correctly clocked my gringa tastebuds. I ate the mango-chamoy paleta first. I had thought the chamoy would be layered or swirled among the fruity parts, but it seemed to be concentrated by the stick and close to the base. Chamoy seems spicier than Tajin, in my opinion. I liked when the mango wasn't overpowered by the chamoy, just complemented by it. The fruit and cream paleta was perfect. No notes! Nice pieces of fruit enveloped by rich cream. It was the best way to soothe my mouth after the chamoy. 😉
The shop itself was bright and clean. The staff, as I said before, knew how to suggest flavors to me. I'm definitely coming back and recommend other people give this...

It looks more like Mexican food and ice cream is just an afterthought, but not at all. It was amazing! I got the rum ice cream bar. It was a taste of heaven! I usually pass when it comes to ice cream, but this was to fantastic to not give it a try. Everything is made from scratch and you can tell. So I would say it is so much better than your average ice cream shop! It is now our favorite spot in the Nashville...
