Read moreOkay, so my husband and I have been coming here as a regular since 2024. Probably been here about 5 or 6 times now. I recently went to Chubby Cattle and they’ve only gotten BETTER!!
First, they allow the option of original, plain and sometimes with sauce for the meats. Sometimes I like the meat with the marinade and sometimes I just want it with no sauce, to just taste the flavor and juiciness of the meat untouched by the flavoring coming from the sauce. I like the fact that they put those selections as options when ordering your meat dishes through the iPad. Great idea whoever thought of that. Pure and absolute GENIUS!
Secondly, they now have two desserts on their menu aside from the delicious green tea and vanilla soft serve ice cream that is unlimited for their patrons . So , one of their meat dishes, which is the Australian Wagyu has a side of raw egg that you dip the meat in once you have cooked it. It was delicious when they had that. Well, not a lot of people were accustom to dipping their cooked meat into raw egg unless you were Japanese or knew this Japanese custom. So the eggs would be wasted and thrown out. To eliminate the waste, they have now changed the egg to a spicy miso sauce, which by the is 🔥 🔥 🔥! And the eggs, they turned to delectable egg tarts that are keep fresh under heat lamps near the soft serve ice cream dispenser. Those egg tarts are TO DIE FOR! The best egg tarts that I have EVER tasted (aside from egg tarts in Japan). They also have a crepe cake that you order through the iPad and that cake is an absolute HIT! Not so sweet, but has a delicate vanilla bean flavor. You pair that up with the oolong tea that you can help yourself to, and man oh man, heaven on earth! They also made an improvement on their matcha ice cream. It has the bitterness that matcha is known for which is 10X better than it used to be! Matcha has been matched and is amazing!!! These unlimited desserts are all so good that I would say if you have a sweet tooth, expect the lack of self control to come into play. Don’t beat yourself up for it either cause you’d be 🤪 🤪 🤪 to pass any off any of these desserts.
Lastly, they now have fresh fruits at the bon chon station. So do yourselves a favor, when you get any of the desserts,, throw a couple of strawberries on top or maybe some pineapple at the side. C’est la pièce de résistance 🤤 C'est très délicieux!
So as always, it’s never been a disappointment eating at Chubby Cattle, in fact is better that EVER.
Also, our server’s name was Zeal, and she was an absolutely sweetheart. She was such a pleasure to converse with while we were eating, and her service, STELLAR! Thanks Zeal!
If you haven’t been to Chubby Cattle, you don’t know what you’re missing. It will change the game for you when comparing it against any AYCE BBQ (Korean or Japanese). By far, it has set the bar HIGH and remains at...
Read moreThis is a fantastic concept.
I've only given 4 stars for the food, but have rated the overall experience 5 stars. Why ? well, I think the majority of the meats I tasted were a solid 8 out of 10, with some being a 9 and some being a 7. You're not eating an 8oz piece of prime Japanese Wagyu, but you are getting the chance to try LOTS (and I mean LOTS) of different types of meat in smaller samples, and for that reason, quantity/price/volume it rates 5 stars for the food.
If you're like me and love meat from ANY/ALL parts of a cow/pig, then this is the place for you. If you're the sort of person that is squeamish when they see fat on meat and only wants to eat the leanest most tender filet, this isn't the place for you (IMHO).
Yes, your options include sides/veggies/appetizers/sushi, all of which I found more than adequate, but the star of this experience is endless plates of meat that you can cook just as you like.
Out of 24 dishes (Yes, really) I only disliked one, the fried chicken wings. The coating was far too crisp and hard and honestly the texture of the chicken seemed a little off. I really shouldn't have ordered chicken wings anyway, when there's far better options on the menu.
I went for the Gold option which allows you to pick ONE dish from each of two 'gold' groups, both containing four options. Then as many as you want from the expanded list of options available with Gold. The two 'one picks' were superb and stood out from everything else, but honestly, if I'd had the basic option, there would have been more than enough to make me happy.
Service was EXCELLENT, there when needed, not around when I wanted to eat and be left alone. 'Downey' introduced me to the concept, started off some of my cooking and was always available for advice and suggestions.
This concept could spread across the states in the same way that Brazilian Gaucho restaurants did a decade ago.
Do yourself a favor, grab your friends, skip lunch, and head over to Chubby Cattle. They do not take reservations and when there's trade shows, expos, concerts, etc. in town, wait times can be an hour at 5pm !
The Gold option is $75.00, tax is $6.29 and a 20% tip took my total to $96.29. Some will prefer a 16oz ribeye from a restaurant on the strip with a couple of sides, but for me 20+ dishes of meat, sushi, seafood, veg, etc. that you cook yourself is a much...
