My family and I were trying to find a new ramen restaurant that we haven't experienced yet and found this one. I was shocked to realize that this was right off of Spring Mountain Road because we've passed this restaurant so many times and never even noticed it; probably because I'm paying attention to the road (driving)? Regardless, when we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly hostess and were informed that it was going to be about a 15 min wait. Although I was at the hangry stage, I immediately thought that this place must be great because of all the people in there.
We ended up getting seated at their long table which was fine for the moment until they sat a young couple on that same table. Definitely not against the restaurant, but that couple made for a very annoying experience because apparently people these days don't know how to have a regular conversation without having to use the F-word constantly...especially around kids. Have we reached that point in society where people are unaware of younger kids around them? Again, not on the restaurant...just made the experience not as pleasant.
We ended up ordering the Gyoza, Deluxe SORA Ramen, Spicy Ramen, and Shoyu Ramen. I tasted everyone's ramen and I felt the best one out of that group was the Deluxe SORA Ramen. Even though I felt it was the best out of the three, I still thought it was only ok. The broth and ingredients were good; however, I was disappointed that this restaurant practices the "no extra noodles" rule. Although this place saved me from consuming unwanted calories and carbs, I still would like to be given that option...especially that night because I was starving.
The customer service here was the absolute best thing of the night. Our server(s) were friendly, professional, attentive, and moved very fast. The parking here can be a little challenging during peak hours especially when their main parking area is already full. I had to park across the street (right next to the residential sidewalks). The price-to-quantity/quality is adequate and reasonable/affordable.
Overall, this restaurant is ok (average) for me - not my favorite ramen place in the valley, but not the worst either. I can't say I'll be back anytime soon, but it doesn't mean I won't be back either. If you haven't tried this restaurant, definitely give it a try...this place might end up being "your" favorite...
Read moreThis is easily the best bowl of ramen I’ve had to date in my life. Why only four stars, you ask? This is solely due to the number of flies throughout the restaurant. If the restaurant could control their fly issue, it would easily be five stars.
But now let’s talk about why this bowl of ramen was life-changing.
First of all, we start with a few appetizers. We got the mini chashu (or char siu depending on how different people spell it) bowl. Char siu is barbecue pork, and this was super fatty on the inside, crispy on the outside, and drizzled with a sweet soy sauce glaze. This will serve atop a bed of fresh jasmine rice, and topped with a healthy serving of green onions. This was easily the best char siu I’ve had anywhere.
We also got some gyoza. This is the real deal. This isn’t some frozen, store-bought item. The dough was incredibly tender, and the meat on the inside is fresh and juicy.
Now on to the ramen. I got the spicy umami ramen with miso broth.
First of all, the spice is incredible. It is tolerable, and it has such great flavor. The oil in the spice coats your lips and adds flavor with each bite. The pork is super tender and flakes away as you try to pick it up with chopsticks. The shoots of bamboo provide a subtle crunch with a bold flavor. And the soft boiled egg, while maybe closer to medium boiled, soaks up the broth and the egg yolk adds a savory flavor to the ramen. The noodles are excellent and plentiful in the dish. And let’s not forget about the miso broth. So good. So much flavor. So savory and strong.
Another great part about this restaurant is it the prices are very reasonable! About $11-$14 for any standard bowl and then you can add additional toppings.
This restaurant is an experience I would gladly come back to every time I come back...
Read moreAfter spending some time living in Japan and having good ramen joints in Chicago, it is not easy to impress us. We have decided to check this joint out considering all of the good reviews. I have to say, service is unbelievably fast. Given a full house and take out, everything came out in about 10 mins, that is got to be some kind of record. Now about the food, we basically ordered everything on the menu since the it is quite small, the focus is on the ramen of course with some small sides. The gyoza was perfect, the filling, the wrapper, the amount of sear and the dipping sauce. The Cha Shu curry rice is ok, a lot of pork, but the curry is too light, almost light enough to be a curry ramen broth. This is actually expected since ramen shops are not known for its curry. The fried rice was the biggest disappointment unfortunately. It is actually quite interesting since it is not a difficult dish to make. The rice was too wet, it was all stuck together. The amount of soy sauce was too little and since the rice was stuck together majority of the fried rice was actually just white rice. There is barely any flavor in it. I think this shouldn’t be the norm here but should be better consistency, fried rice is basic. The ramen noodle is good, but not exceptional in terms of the broth and the pork Cha Shu. I ordered specifically the Miso broth to check the flavor, it is a little on the light side for American taste but in line with the basic Japanese standard. The presentation on the other side is not up to standards, it is sort of just thrown together. In Japan this would be considered a normal mom and pop’s shop around the corner but it won’t draw a line that is for sure. For Vegas, beggars can’t be choosers. It is a...
