Been driving past this restaurant many times and I keep saying, I'll check it out some day. Well, "some day" was today and it did not disappoint!
It was a weeknight, so there were about 3 parties there. Our party of 2, another party of 2 and a family of 4. I have no idea how it is at lunch time or on the weekends but since it was a week night--and still early, close to 5pm--it was quiet. But that's ok cuz I was there for the grubs!
The place is nicely decorated, has lots of Italian products displayed in various areas. Nicely, nothing tacky or seems "busy". It looks really cute and quaint actually, makes me feel like I was traveling some where in a small quaint little town in Italy (I wish!) lol
(1) I was in the mood for a cold sandwich so I ordered a Sicilian. Mayo was perfectly spread and it has all the goodies, makes me think of Joey on Friends, enjoying his sandwich. lol. The bread was a little dry and thick for me but the flavors were good. Everything balanced out in flavors, so that was good. Had the bread been thinner or softer, it would have been better! (2) My SO ordered linguine with clams. This was a big hit with my wife. She cleaned her plate and even used their bread to sponge up the sauce, so I know it was very good! (I had a couple of bites too and it was good!) (3) we shared the calamari fritti which is very delicious and lightly battered, not greasy at all. The calamari itself is tender and sweet. So very good!
To end this meal--and we weren't planning on having any dessert cuz we were too stuffed but 2 items caught my attention and my fat cells sweet tooth got the best of me: Pistaschio and ricotta cheese cake: So good and light and did I already say it was so good??! Tiramisu: Rocco (our waiter) said that's their specialty so of course we had to try it. Go big or go home right? ....Well, this little piggy (and the wife too!) inhaled both and then waddled home! lol. Both were flavorful and so light, not too sweet where you have to stop after a couple of bites. Initially we thought we'd have 2 bites and then take the rest home for later but nope!! We inhaled the pistachio ricotta in minutes and about half of the tiramisu later (we could have finished both but I had to have some self control! lol).
The bathroom was decently kept up and no clutter of anything. Our waiter, Rocco, and his sidekick were very nice (We didn't catch her name). Overall it was a nice dining experience. Come check them out! Get ready to stuff your...
Read moreI can see that the new owners have put A LOT of effort into making this place more modern in the operation, with an actual computer system and they've remodeled in many ways physically, for this I applaud the effort. Our server was the nice Hispanic lady that has been there for years and as always she is as friendly and professional as can be.
We used to frequent this restaurant almost weekly... This was our second time since the new owners took over, our last time coming was right when the new owners took over, a little less than a year ago... and the food was such a disappointment that we haven't been back until today.
We didn't want to compare the old experience to the new, understanding that maybe this chef does better at some things than the last one, but if that is the case, we didn't see it. Other than the appearance of the place and the friendly server... The food was markedly worse.
The house bread used to be flavorful, dense Italian bread... Very distinct and very good. The new bread is very airy and lacking any wow factor.
They used to have the best pasta fagioli... Perfectly flavored and textured broth with a good bean to pasta ratio... It was so good. Now the broth is lacking in depth of flavor and the mini pastas are over powered by an exorbitant amount of beans, its completely out of whack.
The meatballs, of which their used to be two, now comes as one and instead of the fluffy juicy meatballs of the past this meatball was very dense and heavy...(maybe frozen)... Just not good comparatively.
The marinara also lacks the flavor of the past, it's really trying to be good Italian marinara, but falls flat. Very watery, didn't coat the pasta and puddled underneath the pasta.
It's sad because Romas used to be the one place (here in Vegas) that we could get our fill of consistent, simple, well made Italian food away from home... It didn't really matter that the ambiance was lacking or the bills were hand written, all that mattered was the flavor and quality of the food. Get the old chef back and this place...

If you're looking to embark on a culinary journey that will test the very limits of your endurance, look no further! My fiancé and I recently had the misfortune of ordering from Roma via Uber Eats, and let me tell you, it was an unforgettable experience—one we wouldn't wish on our worst enemy.
From the moment our food arrived, we were greeted with a sense of foreboding that only grew as the night progressed. The dishes were lukewarm at best, as if they had been eagerly waiting in the wings for unsuspecting diners like us, having possibly sat out all day. The flavors were a medley of mediocrity, but little did we know, the true pièce de résistance was yet to come.
Within hours, we were transported to a realm of gastrointestinal distress that words can scarcely describe. For the next three days, my fiancé and I were locked in a fevered dance with food poisoning that left us questioning the meaning of life itself. It was as if we were part of some cruel experiment to see just how much the human body can endure.
What makes it worse is the apparent "out of sight, out of mind" approach Roma seems to have with their delivery orders. It’s clear that as long as they get their money, they don’t care about the quality or safety of the food they send out. After all, they don’t see the customers suffering, so why should it matter?
We emerged from this ordeal not just sick, but fundamentally changed. We have faced our mortality and come out the other side with a newfound appreciation for the simple joys of bland, safe food.
So, if you're in the mood for a dining experience that will challenge your very will to live, by all means, give Roma a try. Just make sure your affairs are in order before you...
