WARNING - NOT ALL YOU CAN EAT LOBSTER!
NOTE: This review is only about the pricing and offering for the all you can eat "lobster and crab" dinner menu. (Servers were very sweet).
Firstly, our party was 5 people - two adults, three kids under 11. We were charged for four adults in one child. Instead of charging based upon age, as indicated online, they measured the height of our kids to determine how much they would charge. So, my particularly tall daughter who eats like a bird was charged as an adult. My 10-year-old son was also charged as an adult. Restaurants are welcome to charge any amount they want, but they should not lure people in based upon advertised kids prices, and then not stick with it.
Secondly, this place is NOT ALL YOU CAN EAT LOBSTER. Only after you get seated do you find out they have a sign posted on the buffet that says something like, "We will serve you the lobster and Dungeness crab. It takes 20 minutes to prepare each tray. Each person will be given three pieces of lobster because of volume." Here's what the sign should really say, "We chop our lobster into pieces and serve it mixed in with the dungeness crab pieces, and slather it in some kind of slimy cornstarch that masks the flavor. We only make one tray at a time, and when we bring it out, there is only enough to serve about 15 people. Once that single try is gone, you will have to wait at least 20 minutes for another tray to come out." That would be full and accurate disclosure. Other than that, the place is pretty clean and I would rate the food on par with most other Asian buffets. The sushi on offer was maybe 10% better than most general buffets that offer sushi.
A group of about 10 other positions left at the same time and expressed the same complaints I had - at least I knew I wasn't alone in my dissatisfaction.
I would certainly not return to Imperial Sushi...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to grab a bite to eat at a nearby restaurant after hitting the gym yesterday. We arrived at the establishment at approximately 1:00 pm and were looking forward to enjoying some sushi. However, our experience was not as pleasant as we had hoped.
Upon biting into the sushi, we immediately noticed that the rice had a spoiled taste. This was obviously concerning, as consuming spoiled food can have severe health implications. We promptly informed one of the female Asian staff members who was serving drinks and clearing tables about the issue.
It is alarming that the restaurant served us spoiled food. It is possible that the rice was leftover from several days ago, which is in violation of the Clark County Health Department Standards. Leftover food should never be served as it poses a significant health risk to customers.
In addition to the spoiled sushi, we also noticed other issues with the food and sanitation. The wasabi lacked the characteristic taste of real wasabi and appeared to be artificially colored or imitated. The fruit, specifically the peach, did not seem freshly picked and left an unpleasant aftertaste. We also observed that the napkins were placed next to used gloves and other debris, which could be unsanitary for customers. Furthermore, the table wiping cloths were not soaked in sanitizer, which is a violation of the Clark County Health Department's standards and regulations. The restrooms were not clean, and there were no soap or paper towels available for the workers to wash their hands.
Overall, we would not recommend this restaurant due to the expensive cost of the food and the concerning issues with sanitation and food safety. It is essential that restaurants adhere to the Clark County Health Department Standards to ensure the safety and wellbeing of...
Read moreDecided to come here for lunch to avoid the longer waits and parking difficulties of the other popular Vegas buffets. Food options included a lot of Chinese food and sushi. Non-strict 90 min time limit as there were plenty of tables open. No lobster until dinner time. Cooked oysters and baked scallops had a LOT of butter/cheese which fills you up quick. Sushi looked old/unfresh and had a lot of rice. Crab legs took a lot of work to eat, and was relatively dry and lacking flavor, much like many of their other options. Maybe some of the food just sat out too long? For dessert, pineapple was juicy, but the other fruits looked dried out. I really wanted some oranges at the end but what they had out was the saddest tray of dehydrated geriatric pieces of citrus. For dessert, the coffee cake center tasted decent, but the upper layer was also dried and hardened so I just peeled that off. The other cakes were even drier as if they've been in the fridge, opened, for too long. Still, some of the basic cooked Chinese food (fried rice, chow mein, veggies, chicken, clams, shrimp) was okay. Very 2.5-3 stars all around, appropriate to the $32 per person (after tax) during lunch, in comparison to the costs of the other buffets. Definitely quantity over quality here. Since I'm athletic, I might come to this type of restaurant for the caloric bulk (quantity) but otherwise would first try other buffet options!
Oh, and when we paid the bill in cash (3% cheaper than using credit), we were waiting for them to return the change, but it never came. 30 mins later, we asked about it and they apparently assumed it was a tip. That rubbed us the wrong way because the customer should be determining how much to tip AFTER they pay the subtotal+tax--they missed an opportunity to receive a larger tip after trying to keep a few...
