Read moreTL;DR: Great prices for the portion sizes, good service, the food leaves something to be desired.
I'm a big fan of Izakaya - I'd even go as far as to say I'm kind of a izakaya king. I enjoy small bites of odd shapes and sizes.
This new spot fell onto my radar through random map searching one day so the gf and I decided to hit it on a Monday.
We were seated immediately and the dishes hit the table soon after. We ordered off the happy hour and regular menu, mostly fish dishes - cooked, raw, and assorted.
The portion sizes are large for the prices, which is great in this economy. However, the raw fish was on the tougher end and lacking flavor - indicative if a longer than desirable vinegar/salt bath which firms fish up as you prep it to serve it raw.
The crispy rice and tacos were the stars of the shoe, but again, lacking flavor. The actual crispy rice was some of the best I've had in a long time but the toppings needed some extra flavor - some pizaz, the soup and nuts, tasty baby.
Anyways, we'll give it another try on a busier night soon. $70 for a beer and 6 fishes isn't that bad these days so it's worth seeing if we just got Monday funk or if this tonight was truly indicative of...
Read moreThis place is very welcoming I must say. You'll be greeted as soon as you enter their restaurant. There was no wait time to be seated, it's very easy to call the server because they give you a bell that you can press whenever you need them. Service is 10/10. The reason why I gave them 3 stars. However, I was expecting more for an Izakaya restaurant. I was really craving for takoyaki but this takoyaki was the most oily takoyaki I've ever had, the sauce is almost nothing, I asked if I can have a lil bit more takoyaki sauce and to my dismay they gave me one of the sauce that I really hate not a takoyaki sauce, I mean I'm willing to pay extra for a takoyaki sauce if that is what it takes to have it. The chicken in the curry was dry and the rice was not that good. The rest of the dishes were good but nothing special, just ordinary. The restaurant gives complementary soup while waiting for your order which is really nice. They served our food in a timely manner, they forgot my husband's drink but it's okay coz they are also quick to apologize . Overall I like their service but not their food. Hope they can improve their food and this place would be a perfect...
