Overall: 4.3/5
We came for lunch on a Monday, so it wasn't crowded. The store is small but clean, including the restroom. The lady who helped us was sweet and mentioned that they sometimes run out of banh mi and close early, so she recommended calling ahead and placing an order. The prices are more affordable compared to other Vietnamese restaurants, and the quality is much higher. While it's not quite like San Jose, Saigon Baguette stands out as one of the top banh mi spots in Vegas.
What I love most about their banh mi is the baguette. It's baked to perfection--crispy without being hard or cutting your mouth. I also really appreciate that I can taste the pate.
#1 Banh Mi Heo Quay/Roasted Pork ($8): Unfortunately, the roasted pork was dry and didn't work well in a banh mi.
#2 Banh Mi Thit Ba Chi/Pork Belly ($7): This one was good. The thin cuts of pork belly struck a perfect balance of fat and meat. It was my second favorite.
#3 Banh Mi Thit Nguoi/Special Combination ($7): It's okay. Nothing particularly special, but I could really taste the pate on this one.
#5 Banh Mi Thit Nuong/Grilled Pork ($7): This was also just okay. The grilled pork on the ends was dry, but the pieces in the middle were covered in sauce so they were more flavorful and moist. This one ranks third for me.
#11 Banh Mi Bo Nuong La Lot/Beef in Betal Leaves ($8): This was the best of the five we ordered. While I'm used to the beef being fully wrapped in the leaf, this version had it on the side. The texture reminded me of meatballs, and it was flavorful...
Read moreThey specialize in banh mi, so thought we'd give it a try. Baguette was nice and toasty though!! Which I can't say for alot of places. It was nice to hear that the mayo and banh mi was dairy free. I'm on the picky side of banh mi. So this place was okay for my SO. Still a good as a typical sandwich? Just as a banh mi, it's not for me. Can't compare to SGV or Westminster. It'll definitely be a lower star in those areas.
$7 Special Combination Baguette is a usual order for me and my SO. Just wasn't there for me. $7 Pork Belly Baguette. For some reason, SO wanted this which I find weird. I would usually go with a Charbroiled pork or the owner/staff's favorite. I feel this is a gimmick or modern version. SO likes it. It wasn't for me.
$8. Roast Pork Baguette is the owner/staff's favorite. Always go with owner's favorite if they are giving you their own fav vs popular choice local choice. It's local Vegas here.
But many Asian places in local Vegas seem to just barely miss the mark.... Kinda like eating London food. Looks right, but something always off. Chris V.'s review definitely resonated how I feel of Vietnamese food in Vegas. And for typical Chinese to Tawianese food. Although for Chinese cuisine, you can still hit up a place for 1 decent specialized dish, but that's all. Other dishes...
Read moreI wanted to try a new place this morning, and I’m so glad I chose here! The service was beyond incredible. I was the only person in the store at the time so it was really nice getting to talk with the staff! They are super friendly, humble, and down to earth. I felt like I was at home. I ordered the bbq pork banh mi and coffee. The coffee was perfectly flavored. Just the right amount of sweetened condensed milk. You can tell there was a lot of love and care put into brewing the coffee. The Banh mi was to die for! Flavorful, refreshing, and savory. The bread is hand made and oh man was it delicious! It was crispy, warm, and fresh! Everything is made to order. It is made with love and care, the owner is dedicated to his craft and it shows! I will be back very soon to try the whole menu! Highly...
