Generally, the meal was good....but there's much room for improvement at this cafe. Following is what we liked and didn't like:
Grape leaves appetizer - Excellent! This was a very tasty appetizer...full of flavor! 👍 Chicken Shawarma Plate - okay The meat was tender and tasty, but I'm used to shawarma pieces that are bigger, and have nice charred bits of color from being r grilled on the standing rotisserie and then carved off.....but, these were all uniformly cut into small squares, with none of the elements I mentioned. Also, at most Mediterranean restaurants....they offer slivers of pickle, chopped tomatoes and some roasted potato to go along, but they didn't have that here. The garlic sauce was very delicious, but a little thin compared to a thicker garlic sauce I've had other places. Greek Salad - Great! Very good 👍 Pita........ okay. (I'm used to places that cook the pita fresh in a brick oven...that puffs out and is hot and fresh. This pita was okay, but more like if you bought it from the store.) Service - Friendly and great service 👍 The soda machine was out of order and there was no iced tea (out of order on that too), but they offered bottles and canned sodas, water, etc. The restaurant was virtually empty ...except for 2 other patrons, one of which was playing a ballgame on his phone at full volume.....it was very distracting. We dined in....but they served our food on a styrofoam to go container....with throw away plastic forks. Not sure why we didn't have real plates, etc.
So, the food is good, but I think it's best if you're just wanting a quick bite. Good for quick gyro or shawarma, great hummus...... but because of the lack of real dishes to eat off of,band the out of order machines and lackluster platter, I am only...
Read moreI went with some friends to Nadia’s for my birthday. This was the first time at Nadia’s, and we picked it for the location more than anything.
But we were so delighted by the service we received and the food was exceptional. I had hummus, salad and the mixed grill. The salad was so crisp and fresh. The dressing tasted homemade. The pita bread and hummus we above average and so yummy. The grilled kabob meat also tasted very fresh and grilled to perfection. The huge chunks of steak were moist and crispy on the edges and tender on the inside. The sauces were fresh and flavorful. We didn’t order drinks; but they had a dispenser with ice water flavored with lemon and mint for free - so good!
Then, to my surprise, they brought out a plate of baklava (also very delicious and fresh) - a piece for each of us - while singing happy birthday to me. My friends had not told them it was my birthday, but we wore silly birthday crowns. What exceptional service.
The last thing I loved was the way the staff interacted with each other. I assume some were family members, but clearly not all. They were kind and respectful interacting while we dined. It was a refreshing place.
We had the restaurant to ourselves, perhaps because we had an early dinner, but I hope the next time I visit Nadia’s the place is busy and crowded.
The food was fantastic, the service as well and the space was clean and tidy and...
Read moreLet's start with the positive. Nice decor with polished silverware on the table. The lamb skewer ($5) was seasoned nicely and cooked well done but still tender. The gyro was seasoned well too. Oh and the salad was decent though olives would have been nice. Now for the rest. I wouldn't buy the chicken again, I put every sauce, salt and pepper and vegetable I had left on it and it still dried my mouth out. The pita bread was more like a tortilla and got hard and crunchy by the end of the meal. The service was definitely not worth the 15% tip I gave. (which is before they start cooking). My family walked in the door and was greeted with silence and no eye contact from the two employees. As we looked at the menu on the wall the female (Latina) staff asked if we were ready and the male (Greeks/Arab/Mediterranean?) staff continued cooking. After we ordered we sat down. Food was brought to the table one item at a time. No "how does everything look", or "can I get you anything else" like I noticed she asked a Latina lady and her son that came in afterward. Overall, an experience I won't have again in the future as I will keep looking for a great...
