Taste Budzzz (Food Truck) — Restaurant in Spring

I’ve supported this food truck since its early days — back when the owner was hands-on and working inside the truck. It’s honestly sad to see how far things have fallen. I used to recommend this food truck all the time, but after today’s experience, I can confidently say I won’t be back. The service was incredibly poor — we waited nearly an hour for our food with zero updates or even an apology for the long wait. What made it worse is that seven people who arrived after us got their food before we did — five were DoorDash orders and two were in-person customers. That’s just bad business and at over $20 a plate, that kind of service is unacceptable.

To make matters worse, the young lady working the register (with braids) kept wiping her nose and flinging her hair around. It was not only unprofessional, but honestly unsanitary — especially around food.

When we finally got our order, the food was warm (not hot!) and they didn’t have ketchup — seriously? For a fish plate? That’s the bare minimum. And speaking of the fish, it was way too salty and just didn’t taste like the same quality I remember. It really seems like the standard has gone downhill.

I’ve always rooted for this business, especially as a Black-owned operation with so much potential. But poor hiring choices and lack of consistency are hurting the brand. Your employees are a direct reflection of your business, and today, that reflection wasn’t good.

I first saw this place featured by an up and coming food reviewer I follow! Usually, her reviews are unbiased and spot on, so I decided to give this place a try.

I stopped by one day after work, and I ordered the combo that includes: shrimp, fish, lobster tail, and fries. I'm not easily won over with food...especially being from another city, but the food was phenomenal. The atmosphere was one that included smiling faces, people actually talking to one another, good music, and free liquor. Who can REALLY complain about that? Even if the music isn't your "vibe", we live in a world where people really don't like each other anymore, and to see the owner out and about greeting people, smiling, etc.... alone should win people over (sans the music).

Since my initial visit, I go back to this food truck, weekly. They've won me over as a customer! Is this a PERFECT place? Nope... but neither is McDonald's, Longhorn's, Perry's Steakhouse, or any other place that's ran by humans because humans are subject to error.

Service: Phenomenal (smiling cashier, friendly owner, food came out in a timely manner) Environment: Great (Seating available at a food truck, music playing, TVs for your viewing pleasure) Food: (Comes out hot and fresh every time. Seasonings be seasoning, but I'm sure you can ask for less seasoning if you're not into...

Order two meals we ordered the hot lemon pepper wings with shrimp and fish and shrimp and then we ordered a Kool-Aid. It was crazy when I found out that the Kool-Aid was 450 that mean I bought 10 packs of Kool-Aid and the sugar and maybe some alkaline water to go in it that is very pricey for Kool-Aid. Also, the lady at the front messed our order up completely. We spent over 50 something dollars we did not get the shrimp in the order with the food And that’s very unprofessional. That is very wrong. I promote this place and have people go in there to eat the food not to get screwed over overcharged we wait 3045 minutes for food when other people come up and get their food before us and that is not right. The fish is not big at all so why charge us so much for the food and then the young lady the young black girl with the head wrap has a very bad attitude And that is crazy because she took the order wrong. Won’t be coming back and will add this in my content on my social media. Also where are the condiments. For 50+ dollars and taking the order wrong I can’t at least get ketchup taught the sauce, more napkins, ranch for the wings like come on, man be for real.
