Came for lunch on a Sunday. The waitress didn’t preface the items they were out of(apparently it was a busy week), so 3 tries later, I settled on crab cakes as an appetizer and the Shrimp Blackened Tacos with Mexican street corn as my entree. My friend got the shrimp po boy. The crab cakes were great. I’d go back just for them. The tacos, however were a big miss for me. The shrimp was supposed to be blackened but had no blackened flavor to them. The slaw and crème were good BUT the cheese they use on the tacos was disgusting. It overpowered absolutely everything. Shrimp tacos don’t need cheese!! Especially if it’s a cheese that is too pungent and takes over the entire dish. I did my best to peel it off but it didn’t help. I eventually just ate the shrimp out of the taco with my fork and left everything else, including the corn. The corn was frozen corn that had been cooked to death so it was mushy on the cob. They piled it with another cheese that didn’t add anything to it. I took one bite and the mouthfeel was off putting and it didn’t taste good. I feel like I wasted so much food but it was genuinely inedible to me. I would go back based off of the crab cakes and would try something different, like one of the boils if they have my chosen items available to order. I’d say try them, you make like what you order, but I cannot recommend the blackened shrimp tacos or the street corn.

My friend and I decided to eat an early supper and we wanted seafood. I had seen Kraken originally on Dickson St. but never went. I found they moved to Springdale on Sunset on Maps. We made the drive from Fayetteville and it's pretty easy to find. We walked in and were greeted nicely and picked a booth. The right side had a cool mural of a Kraken with the market prices of the sea food. On the left was booths by a wooden wall. It looked nice and clean. Our server was friendly and attentive. The thing I found odd was the music. It wasn't quite what I expected for a seafood place. They played electronic/pop. We split an okra and crawfish as an appetizer. Then ordered our entree. He got Mussels and I ordered Snow Crab. The potatoes, corn, bread, and sausage were extra "add ons". We got the cajun seasoning and Hot flavor. It wasn't as hot as I expected, but it was really flavorful. The food temperature was hot and really good. Overall I'd definitely recommend this place. The service was good, food is good, food temperature was really, and it was a good experience.

Alright last night March 20th, 2021 my sister came in from out of town we decided to try this place out we had heard alot of good news about this place and how good it was, we arrived at 6pm we was told there was about a 35min wait time so we added our name and phone number to the waiting list there was no other names on this waiting list which gave us impression that they was quick to get customers seated actually in our case it was the opposite we stood in a corner for 20mins, then we went to our cars because of the covid rules, where had sit another 45 mins stepped back in restaurant to ask had they forgotten about us they stated there was still another 45min wait time knowing they was closing at 9pm we asked if it would be better for us to come another day they stated no they had us on the waiting list a reassured us we would be getting called to come back in when there was seating available sit another 45mins waiting they had took the big table top apart to sit single individuals knowing we had been on the list for 2hrs at this point Desiree which was the host contuine to inform us we would be getting seated soon it was now 8:45pm still had not gotten called we asked for manager that person was not there, asked for the managers phone number they said they didn't have a phone asked when manager would be in they stated Monday or Tuesday of next week asked to speak with someone over the whole staff since we was not getting anywhere with them still no manager or management available We will not ever go back to the place the staff n host was rude, the experience for our group of 5 people was completely...

Lots to unpack here. The main impression is what does this restaurant want to be? Is it a fresh seafood boil restaurant? Is it a chicken wing place? Is it something else? After eating there, we don't know.

First the good. Kraken Fries, although the kimchi added was a little odd. Firecracker Shrimp (Boom Boom), well cooked with great flavor. The beer was cold. The service was attentive as well.

Now for the rest. The Fried Cod was pre-battered and frozen as were the Fried Pickles and Crab Cakes. The Crab Cakes were almost burned on the outside and devoid of flavor. The cod reappeared in the Fish Tacos as one whole fillet buried in some sort of sauce.

The strength of this restaurant is supposed to be the seafood boiled/steamed in bags. We did not try those and we want to come back and try them. They are served in a plastic bag which makes for a messy meal. There are trays available to dump the bag out on so that helps. We'll see how that works.

A couple of other notes. The tables are covered with sheets of paper. This makes for quick and easy clean up. The problem, the trash can they put these sheets in is in the front of the restaurant and when it is full they roll the trash from the front to the back. Also, the paper that they use to cover the tables is on the front of the store as well. When they rip off sheets, it sends quite a loud noise through the restaurant.

We are looking to get back to Kracken to try the seafood boils. Maybe that will give us an idea of what this place is. But right now, the jury...
