This was the first time we ordered from Marino's. My wife wanted a pasta dinner but we were too tired to dine in person. So we decided to order online. Large pizza, baked stuffed shells, meat ravioli, seafood sun-dried tomato alfredo, and angel hair alfredo. Ok food, good pizza, poor customer service.
All Dinner entrees come with side salads or soup and bread (we got garlic). The side salads were fresh and the garlic bread was fine. The pizza, half pepperoni, was very good. Probably one of the best around York (except for our regular place). My wife seafood alfredo, according to her, was very good. Nice large shrimp and lots of crab. The shells and ravioli were good, but portions were small for the price. my alfredo tasted like it was just heavy cream. There was little or no cheese, very little flavor, and no salt at all.
What really bothers me the most is that when my daughter went to pick up the food, they couldn't find our order. They said it was because be ordered and paid online. Worst was that when she got home, it was only half the order. All the entrees and garlic bread, but no salads or the pizza. Now, I probably should have told my daughter everything that she should expect to get, but I shouldn't need too. I called them and told the person that answered what had happened. They put me on a brief hold, and then told me that yes my other part of the order was still their. I told them I was on my way to pick it up. When I arrived and told the two individuals that were at the front that I was picking up the rest of my order, again they told me they couldn't find it. Then eventually, someone came from the back with my pizza and salads. They apologized for the inconvenience, but offer nothing else. They should have at least offered to give me a refund of some kind or I would be happy with a dessert, but I guess customer retention is not their top priority. Oh and they charge an online ordering service fee. I regret having put a tip on the order.
So with that log winded review, definitely good pizza, pretty good entrees but sometimes small, poor customer service. We will not...
Read moreHaving previously worked in a Sicilian restaurant in New York I was thrilled to learn that there is a mom & pop family restaurant here in York that was founded by a Sicilian family. So I've been having sweet dreams of a great Sicilian pie made with thick soft crusted yeast based properly proofed dough covered in a well spiced thick layer of Pomodoro sauce with diced Romas, layered with whole milk mozzarella cheese and topped with thick sliced Margherita or Hormel pepperonis that cup when they are baked, and some freshly made seasoned Italian sausage & fresh sliced mushrooms. Mmmm... I was so looking forward to this, but unfortunately our pie was the complete opposite. The crust appeared to have been made by taking two very thin cardboard tasting dough crusts and layering them to try & make a thicker crust, the sauce was a thin, watery & darn near unseasoned marinara, the cheese was stiff & rubbery with little flavor which implies that it was made from skim milk and not whole milk, the wafer thin pepperonis obviously would have little to no flavor, the Italian sausage tasted like unseasoned breakfast sausage, and the mushrooms were small & slimey, obviously out of a can and not fresh. Our garlic bread was made with good Italian bread, but the miserly amount of butter and what tasted like garlic powder instead of real garlic left a bad taste in our mouths. The only reason I gave this place two stars instead of one is that the employees keep the restaurant very clean, tidy, and they disinfected the tables after each serving. Additionally our server was pro active and brought us ice tea refills when our 1st glasses were getting low. So kudos to the server & buss staff, but thumbs down to the chef/cook in...
Read moreI got Italian Wedding Soup ($7), which, was good and hot. The calamari was like it came out of a bigger bag of frozen, processed rings. For $10 it was overpriced and not worth it. I also ordered a small stromboli (around $13). That is precisely what I got, a small stromboli. It was tasty but it was slightly bigger than Hot Pocket. To make matters worse, they charge you $2.50 for the side of marinara sauce that most places include with the dish at no extra charge. I do not suggest getting that. Now, I will say that I really enjoyed the Diet Coke. It came with a lemon wedge and was ice cold. All in all I was not impressed. Our waitress, Becca, was great. She was very busy but found the time to see how we were doing. I will just say that, tonight, I went to an Italian restaurant with a big appetite, spent $79 for the final bill, and left still hungry. Although the food was good, the servings were very skimpy and everything extra had a charge to it. Next time I get the craving for this kind of food, I think the local pizza parlor will be able to do even better than this place. A small stromboli from our local pizza parlor is 3 meals for me and it comes with sauce at no...
