We went to IHOP for dinner today and it was a terrible experience. We specifically went after 4pm for kids eat free. When we walked in, we were told we would be seated momentarily. Another party walked in behind us and waited as well. When the server came back to the host stand to take down our names, they asked the people behind us how many were in their party and told them it would be a 15 minute wait. Then they took our information. I’m not sure why they would put the party behind us on the seating list first if we were in front of them, doesn’t make much sense. The party of 2 behind us got seated before we did. When we got seated and ordered, it took 45 minutes to get our food, for 3 people. When our food arrived, we asked for strawberry syrup and she never brought it back to our table or even checked on us once while we were eating. We ate our other food and finally asked the other server working if he could bring us some syrup. We received an extra order of toast that we did not order. We flagged our server down for some more water and she almost forgot to bring that back to our table. We had a terrible experience start to finish and just thought whatever since it was kids eat free, we weren’t going to complain after getting a free kids meal. When we got our bill, we found out that we were charged for the extra toast, the kids meal, and the kids drink. Since when is a kids drink not included in the kids meal price! We didn’t even get a refill on the kids drink because the server never came back to our table. I asked if kids still eat free after 4, we were told that IHOP no longer offers the promotion and they haven’t for awhile. I told our server that we were at the same location 6 months ago and had the other server that was working and they had the kids eat free promotion. The server said she was new and didn’t really know when they ended the promotion. I also saw a value menu advertised online after 3pm but we did not receive the value menu or see anything about it in store. I feel like we were not only nickel and dimed for our food, but also overcharged since we had to pay for an order of toast that we didn’t order. We will not go back to Ihop after this experience. I felt bad for the people working because they were so short staffed, but it also wasn’t very busy in there and the...
Read moreWhen did IHOP become IFLOP? I was here only because my family wanted to come here! Someone was excited for the 2,2,2, special? I wasn't paying, so I tried it too. First off, walking in, it seemed a bit chaotic. One side was super busy. The other side was not so much... We were promptly satted and given menus. The menu I picked up was stuck together with what I was hoping was maybe syrup? That should have been my first clue... Next, we were asked (What would you like to drink?). It was before lunchtime, so we all said coffee. We asked if we could have a crafe so as not to ask for refills so much. We were told there was only one coffee pot working for the entire place. We would have to wait,okay... right? We got 2 small crafts, and then we were told the manager said only one per table. Huhh? CLUE #2... A table is sat behind our table, the waitress tells that table they have to wait for their coffee because we took all the coffee! Clue #3. Needless to say, we are hungry, and we stayed. Waiting for eggs pancakes and a breakfast meat,2,2,2. It took a very long time to receive our food. Clue # 4. When we get the bill, it is almost $60. 🤪 Ok, the advertising special is 2,2,2 for $6. Why does the customer have to tell the employees their own price specials? How does $6 plus coffee x 3 = almost $60? Towards the end of our meal, the hostess starts turning away potential customers because the servers don't want any more tables to serve. Due to the commotion and difficulties between the staff. It was very sad! The one family was coming from the children's hospital or equivalent because the small child was still wearing the plastic bracelet and dragging their blanket. This child was looking forward to one of those children friendly meals. You could clearly see it on this child's face. This place is known for, right? I have to say this was my third attempt since the pandemic to give this location a chance for our business. Sadly, this location is a no for now on! There are obviously needs and changes to this location. Friendlier staff all around. From management down. It was very obvious. Clean working equipment. Be it utensils, menus, or behind the counter supplies and appliances. Competent cooks and decent...
Read moreI went to the ihop store on South Arlington street in Akron Ohio today July 4th 2024 (independence day) with my wife and my server was Tayra.
I ordered extra crispy Turkey bacon on a muffin topped with poached eggs and a side of extra crispy hash browns, no holiday sauce. Tayra brought my food to the table and after she laid it down, I never seen her again. She went totally MIA and never checked on us again after that. This started a great domino effect. Let me elaborate..
When I get my food, there was regular bacon under the turkey bacon. I am a Muslim so I couldn’t eat it, thus why I ordered Turkey bacon. So I waited around for about 5 minutes, trying to wait for Tayra to come back to my table. She never came back so I had to flag down another server who asked what was wrong, took my food and said it would be remade. Because she wasn’t my original server and obviously didn’t communicate with the original server, when the food came back via a third server, the turkey bacon wasn’t crisp nor was the hash browns.
I immediately told the server it was wrong so she took it back and when it came back it had holiday sauce on it. This “kick the can” service caused my order to be remade 4 times without being right. To make a long story short, I watched my wife eat and I left hungry. The manager whose name was Steve visited the table on the 4th attempt and when that one was wrong due to the “kick the can service,” Tayra laughed with Steve like I was being picky. I felt disrespected and devalued as a customer. They placed absolutely no priority or diligence in getting my order correct.
When I asked for compensation for the incident, Steve took off three drinks, one of which I did not drink because of the food mix up. This further indicated to me that Steve and Tayra made light of the incident and didn’t see their quality of service as a priority, let alone me as a customer.
I contacted corporate to let them know about how things are being run there at that store. My ticket number was 116740259. I will comment back later when I have a response to let everyone know what was done about...
