Bubba's BBQ — Restaurant in Springfield

I am changing my original review on Bubba’s BBQ. I once said this was the best BBQ place ever, not anymore. We were once loyal customers and ate there often. The food use to be amazing, but the quality of food and the cleanliness of the restaurant started to decline and it just got worse. We kept going for awhile, hoping it would return to the BBQ place we once loved, but it never did. We first noticed that our food started coming out cold and it tasted like day old meat. We started noticing that the tables were filthy even when they were slow. They have three choices of BBQ sauce that sit out on the table and the bottles had BBQ sauce all over them, we were cleaning the bottles off ourselves with napkins. Again, we went back (I don’t know why), same cold food, dirty tables, and BBQ sauce bottles, but this time the BBQ sauce tasted like all three sauces were mixed together. We had to take different bottles from another table. Our very last visit, same problems, but the BBQ sauce tasted very different, this time I asked a staff member for a different bottle, she brought one straight out of the refrigerator and gave it to me (it was dirty), it tasted just as bad as the bottle I asked to have replaced. I don’t know if it was the cold beef brisket or the bad BBQ sauce, but we all got sick (my son, my husband, and I). We will never go back again. In town for one night with my toddler. Was just craving a burger and needed a simple meal for him. First of all, only two people I saw working. Young girl at the register was very courteous and honest about the selection. I saw another man with a beard (I think he was the owner?) tending to customers and helping out getting food to tables. Everything was delicious! My smoked cheeseburger was one of the best I had ever had: juicy, perfectly cooked and flavorful. The potato salad was exactly how the young girl described: sour cream based, creamy with bacon and green onions, just like a loaded baked potato. My sons meal was good based on how much he ate, which was a lot for him being a picky eater. I didn’t know they sold smoked sausage so I ordered some to go. When I was given my order by (the owner) I told him how excellent my food was and I appreciated everything. He then mentioned that he was short staffed but tries to accommodate everyone (as I say they must certainly do).As I was leaving I went back to the register to pay for my to-go order which (the owner) had me jump ahead on the other register so I could pay out. I also grabbed pork cracklings to go to bring to my husband. He didn’t charge me for the pork cracklings, but I felt bad and left a $10 tip for an $8 ticket. Another update - I took a friend to Bubbas. We both got the 3 meat platter meals. I got the burnt ends (as always), ham and sausage. My friend got burnt ends, turkey, and pulled pork. My friend loved it all, mine was good but his burnt ends were cooked perfectly mine weren't cooked near enough, no burnt parts at all! But my friends were great and I'm happy about that. The only thing that was not good, it was freezing inside the restaurant. It was in the upper 40s outside... but my friend had to go get his coat and I had to put mine back on... way too cold. I think my burnt ends were a fluke, I'm still at 5 stars and I still recommend it and will go back.

Update- We went back and Bubba's BBQ is still 5 stars! We shared the 5 meat platter, ham, burnt ends, brisket, pulled pork, and smoked sausage. All great!!!! Loved the sauces too. The sides were okra, fries, and baked beans. They were all good, the beans were great! Great service and the place was clean. I recommend it and will return for sure!

Original review- Bubba's BBQ was excellent! I had my fave, the Burnt Ends. Actually, my wife and I had the pick 4 meats and two sides meal.
