Mohawk Tavern — Restaurant in Springfield

Wouldn’t call myself a regular, but visited many of times since it’s near my house. The service is hit and miss depending on the night. Taco Thursday is great with good food and great service.

Going on a Monday is a bad idea, the server makes sure you know she is closing 30 minutes to an hour by turning the lights off and making it public multiple times she is ready to leave. Brittany was very unpleasant and not very professional. Coming from a service job where we will stay open 10 minutes after close every day while also not telling customers we are closing so leave makes it very disappointing. I have helped people after we are suppose to be closed because that’s what you do in customer service. With multiple bars in the area I would recommend a different spot on Monday. The price of a shot and the price of a mixed drink of the same alcohol is exactly the same at this place. They also added an extra drink to my tab. Food (chicken nachos, good, finger steaks, meh) took almost an hour, even though we were there long before the crowd showed up for the band Saturday night. Band (the Koz) was really good, but my ears are still ringing a week later, as there was very little room to dance away from the speakers. Very little room to even get into a chair, the tables were too close together. Smell of cigarette and pot smoke rolled in every time the door opened, which was gross. Empty drinks and food plates were not cleared for over three hours. One waitress spent more time dancing at the register than ringing up drinks... Perhaps she thought THAT would get her bigger tips? We will not be returning to this...

After coming in on a Sunday evening I ordered a shot of house tequila and one Pepsi for my date. Shortly after I began to play a game with coasters where completely and gently toss them like a frisbee toward a goal of sorts. Always making sure to be polite and staying away from other customers and interrupting them in any way possible. This somehow upset the bartender at which time she asked me to leave quite rudely even going as far as to pick up the phone as if to call the authorities. This bartender is about five four shoulder length brown hair tattoos piercings and quite rude apparently the owner needs to some of his or hers bartenders servers through customer service classes.
