Went to Lindberg's last night for the Uke 66 Beatles sing along.
It's not just food, drink and entertainment at Lindberg's it's a full sensory experience of the highest order. If you don't let yourself be immersed in the atmosphere you've denied yourself something special.
Starting with the tavern itself, with its old wooden bar and fixtures, the decretive high ceiling, the dim lighting and original art on the eastern wall the place raps you in a shell of character and comfort. It would be difficult not to feel at home. That by itself would be enough, but it only gets better. The drinks are done right and brought to you by lovely waitresses that move through the crowed room like Formula 1 drivers, taking orders and keeping glasses full, always smiling, polite and professional.
And the food. Oh my god the food. Conceptualized, created and cooked by a poet chef. My advice is to order it the way it comes, do not customize or have them leave off something you think you won't like because, trust me, you're not going to improve on this man's vision. I've ordered many entrees with several ingredients that I would never eat anywhere else and have never been disappointed. The flavors and seasoning combined in just the right measure and ingredients that I would never imagine would work on the same plate all come together in a perfect marriage that will delight your palate and make you want to run into the kitchen and give the cook a hug.
Is that enough to bring you out to Lindberg's? It should be, but if it's not that's cool, cos there's more. They've always got some unique entertainment or show going on, last night was a Beatles sing along brought to us by Springfield's own Uke 66 amateur ukulele club. That's right, a tavern FULL of people of all ages singing along to Beatles songs with ukulele accompaniment, ( You can't even make that up.) and they NAILED IT! On stage or in the crowd, a good time was had by all.
I'd like to say thank you to the staff at Lindberg's for creating and keeping this shrine of...
Read morePlease don't take my experience for the average here. My friend and I ate here tonight. We walked in and a band was setting up. Apparently they were going to start playing at 8 it was 7:15. We had no idea they were going to be there and likely we wouldn't have come here had we known. We just saw good food and reasonable prices and good reviews. They had a cover charge and we said if we eat outside and finish our meal before they play can't we skip the charge? He agreed and we sat outside. There was another group outside already. The waiter took our order including one beer and then asked me for a card to start a tab. I told him I that seems odd and he said it's because of the band. I said why do I need to do that since I'm here, outside and I'm ordering food and plan to leave before they play. He insisted so I gave him my card. Then he comes back a min later and says they are out of the beer I wanted so I asked for my card back. He said do you want me to just run the bill? Mind you, we have not gotten any food at this point. I said fine. So he brings put the ticket. That was the last time we saw him. Two different waiters brought our food. My friend asked one of them to refill his soft drink. We never saw our waiter again after he brought the bill. The other waiters were very kind . The burger was great, the poutine was ok and their homemade katsup was terrible. I haven't left a zero tip in many many years but when you do nothing but take my order and make me feel like you are expecting me to bounce before paying, I'm sorry but that's what I had to do. This is my first time in Springfield and it left a pretty bad taste...
Read moreSadly, I cannot rate the food here, because we never received it. We arrived at 6 pm and there were only a few other customers there. A waitress/bartender took our drink order and food order. We both ordered the Lindburger and she said "that's easy, I'll get it put in for you". She came back shortly with the beer that my wife had ordered. About 40 minutes later, we started noticing other people (who had arrived after us) were getting food. We waited 10 more minutes, then they started bringing burgers out to people that were 20 minutes, at least, behind us. We stood up, put on our coats, and the guy that had been working the door came over to us. I told him that we never got our food and we'd like to pay for the beer and leave. He said he would take care of the beer. We walked outside. My wife went back in and asked how long it would be on the food and was told that the order was never put in.
I understand mistakes happen, but we sat there for almost an hour and were never offered a refill or another drink. So, it's more than one mistake, it was just being completely ignored.
Had they said "I'm sorry, can we get the food ready for you now? Or even to go?" I wouldn't be posting this. I would have still paid, but probably not tipped. Even a discount for another chance later, or some effort of showing...
