The food at the restaurant is good. Well, at least most of the time. The reason why I give it only two starts is that the portions are too small compared to the price. I had lamb haneeth the other day and I got a good portion of meat and around 4 table spoons of rice! You could actually see the plate under the very thin layer of rice. This is just wrong. I don't want to pay $20 dollars for a meal and don't get enough food for one person. They said the amount of money is basically for the meat. Well, that does not make sense. It is stated in the menu that it served with rice. They offered another explanation: this is the new policy bc people do not eat all the rice so we decided to go with a smaller portion of rice. Seriously?! This is ridiculous! At the end they were like, well, this is a one person meal and you guys are two! Well, I was not that hungry at the time neither my husband was. You can't force us to order two meals or decrease the portions so we can't eat together! We're the customers we decide what we want. If you have a restaurant you need to understand how much it takes to feed one adult human being. If you think that you could save some money by decreasing the portions and the food quality, your mistaken, your indeed losing customers. To make things even worse, i ordered Areeka, which is usually served with cheddar cheese "at least that's what it is stated in the menu", and they served it with mozzarella cheese! You can't just say this is the new policy. Well, your new policy says that you don't care about your customers. All you care about is making more money. By the way, be prepared to pay at least $5 for service (that doesn't include tip) and that's for two adults and...
Read moreMy first time at the restaurant with brother and few friends. We ordered mix dishes from lamb, beef, shrimp, vegetable dish to beef soup and lentle soup. All the dishes were great. Shrimp and beef dish we ordered again. The tandoori naan was awesome. I love tandoori naan. We all loved it. And the naan was bigger than any desi restaurant I have been too. We ordered lime juice. It was real good. We tried it and ordered a second bottle. The reason for only a 3 star is the service. The waiters were polite and nice but it seems none of them knew what to say and when and what to bring at what time. We all sat and waited few minutes. Instead of someone bring the menus to us, we had to ask for the menus. They did come by and ask for the order. But that was it. We placed the order and waited. No one brought the utensils, water, or plates. I had to ask the waiter for it. We were given small appetizer plates. Dinner came and I had to ask for regular dinner plates. During the dinner none of the waiters came by and asked how is everything going? Is everything ok or would you like anything else? It seems they were kinda confused. We were 12 in our party. I am not sure if that confused them. But as polite as they were, they definitely need to improve on this point. Kudos to the chef. The food was excellent from every point of view. We all agreed. All they have to do is work on the service and please try and have carry out menus. They have none we were told. We will visit again and bring our family members...
Read moreI went in because I saw it made the top hundred best places to eat for DC, VA and MD, that's a list that includes restaurants that start at $300 a plate, but this place was raved about and is inexpensive and in a strip mall near where I grew up. Had to see what it offered.
I thought the hummus with meat would be a safe order - it floored me! The seasoning on the meat and onions and tomatoes on the top was delicious and the hummus was good too, but I never managed to dip more than a couple bites of the (excellent) bread in it, because I just wanted to keep scooping the meat and toppings into my mouth directly.
The mint lime drink is now my favorite drink ever, it's like the perfect lime-onade with enough mint in it to some how make it more refreshing and tastier.
The main courses were very good, we tried a few and entertained the waiter by eating so much, the lamb stew hit the spot, but the slow baked chicken that was so tender you could pull it apart with a spoon was neat too, not a strong flavor but everything that was there was right.
What a lovely place, with super nice waiter, and the dessert we tried was a great finish - ground honeyed date bread with a little yogurt let me make bad puns about having a special "date dessert" for my honey, and it tasted great too.
Definitely worth a try, not pricey, good people, and good to amazing food, we'll be back and will bring friends!
