We have been going through Peking house the last six months getting general chicken, beef fried rice, general dinner for two. We always order fried rice with no onion. The food is adequate enough and the location convenient enough that when we crave "Chinese," this is a quick go to, even if the drive thru employee has sometimes been pretty rude, shutting the window while we were midsentence or trying to ask a question, enough so that at times the owner has taken over and finished up the interaction. However this last time we ordered the dinner for two, 11/4/18, we were told that if we didn't want onion in the rice, they would have to give us steamed rice. Ok. This didn't make sense so I called and asked if they changed how they do their fried rice and they said no, they've always put onions in their fried rice. My problem with this is that we have either been lied to or ignored by staff when requesting no onions every time we've ordered prior to this visit, or this final- FINAL- visit we were lied to about them being unable to make a batch without onion. Lying to someone about food is a huge deal- you don't know if someone makes a special request due to preference or allergy, and in food service it is always safest to assume allergy. We will not be returning to Peking House because I'm not going to eat anywhere I can't trust the employees. It is disturbing to me that the employee who answered the phone didn't seem to...
Read moreWe ordered the Cashew Chicken combo, with egg roll & wontons. The chicken had a hair in it. When I told them, they said well we will make another one. No apologies, nothing. We seriously should have left then. The wontons contained some foreign substances we could not indentify. Pale pink rubber consistency. The order was 4-5 pieces of chicken, less then a child's portion at most places. We ordered Chicken Soft Noodle, and paid for extra vegetables, requested it be spicy. There was no spice. The chicken was dried out. Very few vegetables - and they all were white? The sauce was very watery, basically no flavor at all. This was supposed to have been a " treat" special occasion dinner. The food was horrible, absolutely horrible. Poor service. We finally decided to speak with the manager, he was a young kid, very disconcerting. Offered nothing. We asked to speak to his mananger- was told not possible. NEVER, again. Entire experience was disgusting! No cars in parking lot, wasn't sure they were open, should have been our first clue. 25.00 waisted! Worse then that, the heaving and feeling the...
Read more(2022) two stars .wow this place has gone down hill. First they would not do a split order. If I'm a paying costumer the let me pay how I need to. Next time I'll some where they don't tell me no because you are lazy. Second, the food was very basic. Cashew chicken tasted like the stuff you can buy in the story. Chicken lo mein was very sweet tasting, too sweet. Egg rolls cold.
(2019) Four stars. This is one of the better places in Springfield to get cashew chicken. However there are other places here in Springfield that are better but Peking House has been around for a very long time and is always very friendly and very clean. It is the best place to eat on the East Side of Springfield Kama if you are east of Glenstone. Food is always delicious and does not leave me wishing that I hadn't ate there like some Chinese places do. Price is fair for what you were getting you should have a great time if...
