Saw an individual, working in the kitchen, rub his nose then continue cooking/preparing the food without washing his hands. He did not have gloves on. Later I noticed him scratching his, greasy,(could have been product) long hair. I saw no one using gloves. Nor did I see them washing their hands. There were 3 people behind the bar and not interested what was going on at the bar. I stood there several minutes(which normally isn't a big deal, but they weren't serving anyone nor taking orders and I was the only one standing there) while one young lady was busy texting, 2 young men were busy in a personal conversation while I stood there waiting for service. But, they were immersed in their own little worlds. There were dirty tables, the "drip" coffee container was empty(and mind you, this is a coffee bar), the bathrooms were dirty and there was no toilet paper(in either stall). There were plenty of staff that could have taken care of all of these issues. I'm not sure why these basic things were ignored. It was a great location for us to go after church. Not anymore. I’ve never been happier to have been proven so wrong. The atmosphere reminded me so much of back east, I was almost homesick. It was a welcome reprieve from the fast food atmosphere of so many breakfast joints.
The staff accommodated our food restrictions, and Christine made me one of the best lattes I’ve had outside of Seattle. (Try the “Roots Brews!”)
All in all, we’ll be rerouting our next adventure just to make a stop in Springfield and our new favorite Midwest coffee...
