I have ordered from this location three times. I was trying to give them a chance to get it right.
It didn't happen. 😔 Poor food quality, poor customer relations, and no complaint resolution from the manager other than, "Oh Well." This really is disappointing because this is the closest to an actual Stromboli that I have found in Springfield. Close just doesn't hit the mark.
They don't seem to care about your food, about your experience, only about your money. Not sure about the other location but Kansas Expressway doesn't.
This last order, I ordered a large Stromboli and a large order of sirracha ranch chicken wings.
The Stromboli was, as usual, undercooked and EXTREMELY soggy. They close the ends of the Stromboli so none of the oils and liquid can escape. This creates a very soggy and uncooked dough. EACH AND EVERY TIME!
I even asked them to cook it longer in the notes for the online order. Somehow, it came out more undercooked than the last two times.
The chicken wings had no sauce, flavor, or crispness. They were actually soggy as well. Not sure how that happened, but it did.
I called them to tell them about the error, and all I heard from them was attitude, and how I didn't know what I was talking about. She said that she made our food. Then said that the sauce is light in color.
I then told her that I understand the sauce may not have color, but there wasn't any flavor either. She then told me I was wrong and the flavor should be there because she sauced them. I'm over 40. I'm certain I know what food has flavor, and what doesn't. Especially a spicy ranch flavor.
She then said she didn't know what she could do to help me. Told me to order extra sauce next time. How am I supposed to know that I have to order extra sauce,... to get ANY sauce?
After this argument, l told her there wouldn't be a next order. She said, "Ok, I'm sorry to hear that." With an EXTREMELY...
Read moreLet me start this off by saying, I don't ever fill out surveys negatively or reviews negatively. I am in customer service, so I understand the impact of them. I went to a big slice south on Kansas Expressway this evening, i ordered the Sicilian pie. That the young man was trying to serve me a pizza that was burnt the crust was charred, black. I'm glad I was paying attention and turned around when I did to see the young man putting this Pizza in a box. Getting ready to cut the crust off of it. I said to him, you're not really trying to serve that to me. He's like, yes, we cut the crust off of it. I was like, no, that's why you purchase a Sicilian pie is for the crust. That is burnt. I wish I took a photo of this Pizza so I can post it along with this. I had him lift the pie up so I can see the bottom of it, and it was just as black as the crust. I requested a refund which he did provide, for that Pizza. But I will no longer go back to that. Establishment, it was a horrible, horrible experience. I have been going to the Big Slice since Levi opened it, I was probably one of his first customers. If not his first. I contacted Jason, Levi's brother and he explained to me that they are no longer affiliated and that they get constant phone calls about the poor service and quality of food that they're serving to people. He apologized profusely. Then explain to me that they are no other affiliated. I truly hope that the quality of food. They are putting out at that establishment does not cost the other 2...
Read moreMy wife and I had read about The Big Slice in 417 Magazine's Guide to the Best Pizza's in the area and decided from the article to give The Big Slice a try. We were not disappointed. If anything, it's quite possible that 417 Magazine did not do them justice.
The restaurant is unassuming and has a very simple layout with minimal decoration. They did have several large screen televisions tuned into the most widely watched sports channels. We assumed that most of their business must be takeout since the interior was pretty minimalist. After eating the pizza we decided that they must have decided to let their Pizza do their talking since it is truly the best Pizza we've had in this region.
417 Magazine describes The Big Slice as one of the only pizzas to truly resemble a New York City Style Pizza - large triangle shaped slices with thin yet chewy hand-tossed crust, topped with umami sauce and low moisture mozzarella. I can assure you it is all that an more... We got the supreme pizza and between me and my wife wolfed down five large slices without batting an eye.
Levi Grant, owner and Springfield native has never been to the Big Apple, but you couldn't tell that from eating his Pizza. My advice is to run not walk to their Pizzeria and order a hot pizza pie right now... you...
