Delightful As I round out discoveries during my birth month, January, I’ve had the pleasure to find some places off the beaten path. One of these is a little diner called, Scramblers. As I completed the last lap of my morning workout, I found this small diner tucked away on the end of a store strip mall. I decided to give it a try. I wasn’t disappointed. After entering, I noticed that the space was ample with the ability to accommodate at least 130 guests. Nancy, the waitress, greeted me and sat me at booth. She was polite and suggested items on the menu after I mentioned that it was my first time at the diner. I could tell this was one of those places where people become “regulars” judging by the interaction some of the waitresses had with the customers. When my meal arrived, I was glad that my walk afforded me a hearty appetite because it was quite a meal placed before me. On one plate were eggs, hash browns with bacon and sausage. The other plate held the prettiest, thickest uniformed pancakes I’ve ever seen. Most of all, the taste was light with a slight sweetness. They were hot enough to melt the butter I smothered on them while the hot syrup I poured, drizzled down the sides. Nancy was a wonderful waitress as she checked on me during my meal then later bringing a to-go box without me having to ask. She is attentive to her customers needs, this I gathered during her conversation with another couple. This diner brags that they are the home of the four-egg omelet as well as homemade white and raisin toast. I can’t wait to try it out. Overall: With great service and good food, it’s no wonder they are celebrating their twenty-fourth...
Read moreI'm always looking for a decent place when I'm in springfield. Restaurants are hit and miss here for many years. Nice place, terrible food and service. I sat here for 15 minutes before anybody came to my table. I ordered the most simple breakfast, 2 eggs over medium, hash browns, and sausage patties. My eggs were cooked ok, the hash browns were greasy and littered with the over cooked and burnt chunks that were scraped together from past orders. I get the left over crap mixed with a little bit of undercooked and new... Clean your griddle cook! And don't do it on my plate! Sloppy short order cook. The sausage I was given is from a bag and served room temperature... I could have eaten a better meal at the hotel for free...
It's clear the locals are happy or these are paid reviews because my experience here was terrible... A cook and servers willing to put this quality of food in front of a customer says plenty. This is a text book order for a short order cook... Lazy and complacent in my opinion.
There are way better diners in this town that are at least consistent and serve hot food. This is not...
Read moreScramblers logo and menus and seating clearly shows the diner vibe. However, the decor had left me confused. There’s a sign on the table that says a 4% fee is going to be added if you use your credit card. My question is why didn’t they just adjust the prices of the food up that 4% to include that in their operating cost? It’s insulting as a guest.
I think the best thing on my two eggs, sausage home fries, and sourdough bread plate was the sausage, the sourdough bread had no sourdough flavor and was over cooked and under proofed therefore it was very dense. The sausage gravy looked and tasted like it came out of a package. How can you have a diner, and not make sausage gravy from scratch it’s so easy? Needless to say our way to Truss was phenomenal. We liked her a lot and those ladies and gentlemen that work there we’re hustling quickly bagel shout out to the wait staff at scramblers in...
