I’ve tried to visit Teriyaki House for lunch a few times, but their hours were always a bit wonky and inconsistent. I don’t make it to that side of town for dinner often, so I was glad to finally stop in today for lunch—and it was a good experience.
First off, the inside is much nicer than the 80s exterior suggests. The ambiance had a cool, modern vibe, with lowkey techno playing (probably some subgenre that fits the “I’m fancy but hip” aesthetic they’ve got going). It was quiet, just me and a couple of DoorDash drivers coming in and out.
The waitress asked if I had been there before, and when I mentioned the past inconsistent hours, she told me the new owners have been much better about keeping the schedule steady. Definitely a good sign.
The chef came out to introduce himself and asked if I wanted to try spicy edamame—I said sure. He then asked if I had ever had edamame before, and when the waitress also asked, I figured they must have had customers attempt to eat the pods whole before. It was good—slightly spicy, a little tangy, and a nice start to the meal. I expected to pay for it, but they actually gave it to me on the house, which was a nice surprise.
For my meal, I ordered a seaweed salad and the unagi bowl. The seaweed salad was good and came with two chunks of (what I assume was imitation) crab. The unagi bowl was simple but solid—four strips of eel on top of a piece of lettuce, with a fancy-cut carrot garnish and a drizzle of that classic eel BBQ sauce. Nothing over-the-top, but tasty, and the whole meal felt healthy and fairly inexpensive at $19 plus tip.
Overall, I had a positive experience. The food was good, the staff was nice, and the new ownership seems to have figured out the consistency issues. If you’ve been put off by their past scheduling weirdness, it might be worth giving them...

This was my first time (but definitely won't be the last) eating food from this establishment! Incredible food. I'm saying this having eaten at many Oriental themed restaurants in Springfield, over the years.
Restaurant Appearance/Cleanliness: I did not dine in, but the place was clean & tidy. Adequate seating for a small crowd (20-30 people capacity approximately). A nice little spot.
Service: I ordered to go. So the only interaction my company & I had, was with the girl at the register. She seemed friendly though.
Food Quality: I cannot say enough good things here! I ordered the House Combination (Chicken, Beef, & Shrimp w/Fried Rice). It was excellent! We also had a couple of orders of Crab Rangoon, as well as some extra Egg Rolls. I must emphasize here, that the Crab Rangoon, although shaped differently (in a good way), were phenomenal! Probably the best I've ever had!
Overall Synopsis: I would say that the quality of food this restaurant produces, is near 4 Star quality, if not better! I give it a...
Read moreDon't bother wasting your money eating at Teriyaki House. I ordered very simple menu items and got incredibly bad quality products in return. Worst egg rolls ever ( too greasey) and watery, flavorless beef with vegetables. The sushi was average ( same quality as you can get in any grocery store). Due to the fact that the food was less than satisfactory and disappointing I will never order food from this restaurant again. Additionally the staff is rude to delivery people, abusing their time by making them wait for orders that are supposed to be ready at least an extra 10 to 20 minutes. Abusing delivery people's time causes them to lose money. That is just plain cruel and thoughtless. Just to let the customers waiting at home know you are the lowest priority to this restaurant, they definitely don't care if you are waiting for your food and your business is not valued. If you're smart just avoid this restaurant no matter whether you're hungry or whether you're trying to earn money. Teriyaki House has no...
