Just ok Thai food, overpriced for the value. My wife and I visited That’s Thai Food for a dinner in Feb 2025. Thai cuisine is one of our favorites and we cook some dishes ourselves, so we have certain expectations. The food was just ok with basic presentation (see pics). Fish cakes - ok, but a bit chewy. The portion was double the standard size - 8 pieces! Need to serve more sauce for so many fish cakes. Make the portion smaller and cheaper or offer two sizes. Tom Kha soup - the menu lists a choice of 3 proteins and a few for extra charge. We were not asked what protein we wanted and we forgot to tell assuming a standard chicken. The soup came with shrimp! That would be extra $5 or $10 on top of $18 for just a soup. The problem wasn’t a price though but that I don’t eat seafood. The soup got replaced for the one with chicken. It tasted pretty good but different from the usual Tom Kha. Something was off. Maybe the lack of fish sauce as listed on the menu. Even the color wasn’t white. The soup lacked fresh basil on top, was overloaded with chicken, and was served warm rather than hot, so it became cold soon. It wasn’t spicy at all and there was no chili to add. The portion was also a double and we could hardly finish it. Just offer 2 sizes like most of other places so. Red Curry with Chicken - we got the same dish, but one with pineapple and the other with bamboo shoots. Not sure why it can’t be a single dish with both. I asked to add bamboo shoots to my curry with pineapple and make it level 3 hot. Eggplant wasn’t available even for extra charge. Both curries came overloaded with chicken and thin bamboo shoots reducing the amount of curry sauce itself. They had no fresh basil and both were level 2 hot at most. The taste was ok, but not as colorful as it’s supposed to be. Maybe due to lack of fish sauce. The service was almost non-existent. The restaurant was empty and the only person serving was always in the kitchen. We couldn’t ask for an extra chili, napkin, drink or anything. Nobody was there. I managed with lack of spiciness for the soup, but for curry I took it into my own hands, walked to the counter, found a serving stand and got us a small chili jar. Self-service :) Ridiculous:) Unfortunately, we can’t recommend this restaurant. With average food taste and almost no service the prices are quite high. I would rate the place 3-3.5 stars, but giving it a 4, so the owners have a better chance to improve.

Thai flavors I appreciate, served at a higher price point, in a clean but too-quiet atmosphere. ** UPDATE: I’ve now been here 3 times, so I’m updating my review slightly. I’m always on the lookout for Thai food so I was pleased to spot this renovated spot in the corner of this shopping area. They have a big menu and importantly for me they offer ground chicken! My friend and I tried a few at once: - the That’s Thai Basil - which is most like the pad kaprow rice dish that is my usual go-to at Thai restaurants, - pad Thai, - their roti (crispy!), - green curry which doesn’t have too heavy of a coconut milk flavor - Spring rolls - these weren’t as unqiue as some others in my opinion, - Drunken noodles - chewy wide flat noodles, I’d order again - Thai iced tea: suits the craving For heat/spicy-fans, their level 4 seems to be Thai spicy. Note that we did try levels 3 and 2.5, and the level 3 didn’t seem too spicy. So it’s possible that level 4 may be a significant jump above level 3. For fans of pad Thai, just be aware that their lunch menu which says “pad mie Thai” is not standard pad Thai but instead is made with a thin vermicelli noodle. We didn’t try this but were given a heads up by the waitress/owner. Note that parking is plentiful, being in a shopping plaza. The restaurant’s physical space is nicely decorated and clean but at least two times I was there, there’s no music playing and so the atmosphere can feel awkward if you’re at all self conscious about your own conversation or volume levels. Having visited 3 times now, I would consider dining again when I’m nearby and don’t mind the higher pricing.

UPDATED DEC 2024: I will no longer be going here. The last three times I’ve come the wait for food has been more than 1 hour and dishes were incorrect once they finally arrived. We also saw other parties who were seated after us receiving their food more than 20 mins before us. Additionally, even though there were two staff members, the female staff member spent the majority of the time chit chatting with one of the tables despite the restaurant being busy. I didn’t update my review the first 2 times this happened because I thought maybe they were just understaffed temporarily but clearly there’s been a change for the worse. OLD REVIEW: This restaurant, owned by three sisters, is a hidden gem and the best thai food I’ve had outside of Thailand. I had their Pad Thai, Duck Salad, and Penang Curry, all featuring huge portions of duck. What truly impressed me, besides the authentic flavors, was how reasonably priced the duck dishes were considering the ample servings meat. The ambiance, though simple, exuded cleanliness, and the service was swift. For an unforgettable Thai dining experience, this restaurant is a must-visit, and their duck dishes stand out not only in taste but also in value for money.

Our party of 4 had dinner reservations here on Saturday night at 7 pm. As we walked in there was a customer picking up her takeout order who was visibly upset that her order was not ready. She said she ordered it over an hour ago. That should have been our red flag that this place was going to ruin our night. We were seated and a young man came to take our order. A few minutes after doing that, he came back to inform us that the kitchen was backed up and the minimum wait time for our food would be an hour and fifteen minutes. For Thai food. There were only four other tables with customers. Perhaps they were busy with takeout orders. Maybe they were severely understaffed. Whatever the reason, clearly this place did not know how to run their ship on a Saturday night. We were not going to sit and wait that long for our dinner, so we got up and left. We really wanted to give this place a chance as the food reviews are glowing. Sadly they have a lot to work on in terms of the logistics of running a basic restaurant kitchen. We ended up going to an amazing Asian place in Madison that was way busier (both for dine in and take out), but had an efficiently and adequately staffed business so they were able to accommodate us with just a few...
