We came here for my moms birthday dinner. Francesca's used to be one of her favorite restaurants and she wanted to give 'Mio Modo' a try since they just rebranded and opened. The staff is lovely, as I noticed a lot of them because they worked at Francesca's for many years. What I will say the most, I miss the warm bread and butter, that was literally one of the best parts. They sit you down with a (2) bowls; a mixture of olives and then thick crumbled pieces of parmesan drizzled with like a balsamic reduction. Then they bring you a plate of what I called sourdough toast-toasted bread coated in butter and oil olive-with not topping to put ontop of it. It was just very strange and a weird combo. Bring back the classic bread and butter. We ordered carpaccio for an appetizer and it did not disappoint, although I think the presentation of the topping could have looked nicer. For the main courses, we ordered (3) Fettuccine limone, (1) Pesce Bianco al Limone and (1) of the daily specials (which happened to be the best thing we had). Out of all three people, none of us liked the fettuccine limone. It tasted like the noodles were egg noodles and it threw off the flavor of the dish. The fish was under whelming as well and the spinach was cold and not thoroughly cooked through. Overall, the food was not good and we will most likely not go back for this reason. With it being a birthday celebration, we were able to get a dessert and limoncello shots on the house-which was a very nice touch. The decor inside is stunning but more attention needs to be made to the dishes. Also-the restaurant only had (1) handicap parking stall. When we arrived, we needed a handicap spot for my grandma. Unfortunately, the (1) handicap parking spot was in use. The restaurants has about 3-4 parking spots designated to 'online order pick ups' or 'call aheads'. Overall, 2 of out of 5.

Francesca's is our Italian haven away from home. We've been going there since I was a kid, and for every big occasion from homecomings to rehearsal dinners, and now, to new occasions for our own kids! There isn't any other restaurant we'd rather go. From service to the atmosphere to the menu, Francesca's has NEVER disappointed. (and this is saying a lot since my dad was born and grew up in Italy so he is very picky on his Italian food). Last weekend, we visited Francesca's for the first time since their renovations to Mio Modo, and WOW we were blown away. How could our favorite place become even more magical? But it did! The vibe has all its original comforts, but with an urban, modern twist (in both atmosphere and menu). My husband and I used to live in the west loop, and we immediately felt like we were back in the city. We were there for my cousin's confirmation, so there was multiple kids including my infant daughter and 3 year nephew, and the staff (shout out Brian) took care off of us all like it was nothing. We haven't had so much fun and eaten so grand in a long time (and I am GF). Also, table side tiramisu, yum! We are so grateful from Mio Modo and you will never be disappointed in sharing a meal there! 5 out of 5 starts every time!

Overall, great experience! Staff was super attentive. Literally, we had 5 different staff wait on my friend and I. We had the hostess, bus boy, waiter, food server, and table side mozzarella maker. All were very kind, talkative, and knowledgeable. The restaurant was recently redone so it looks completely different - love it! My only complaints are how tight our high rise booth/chair combo was. Im 5’4” so I had to hop up onto my seat. Felt taller than a usual high rise. Then, it was extremely loud. Loud music, loud talkers, dishes clanking like crazy… I suppose that is more normalized nowadays, but still quite too loud that I could hardly hear my friend. Food was delicious! Highly recommend the table side mozzarella with the Sicilian olive oil, the Milanese chicken dish, and the bottle of moscato for the table. Will definitely come back during an off-hour.

I was in last month to celebrate my husbands birthday. We had reservations made for a group of 4 at 7:00pm on a Saturday evening. We arrived at the restaurant at our reservation time and checked in with the host and were told it would be a few minutes.

We decided to wait at the bar, only 1 spot available, while we waited. At 7:25, 25 minutes after our reservation, the table was still not ready, so I checked with the host to see if we had a timeframe to see when we could be seated. We were told about 15 more minutes.

A little after 7:40, I went back to the host stand to talk to a supervisor to see what was going on, as we were still waiting for our table. We were given the excuse that other patrons weren’t leaving. While still waiting we were seeing many other that arrived significantly after us being seated.

At 7:55 I told the supervisor we were leaving unless they could seat us immediately. At that point she magically had a table available. In all honesty I wish we would have left. Once we were seated the manager did bring out appetizers, which was generous, however we had already ordered the appetizers we wanted, after having almost an hour waiting to decide.

Our server was very kind and knew the situation leading up to being at her table, however we felt very rushed through our meal. We were never offered a dessert menu, or the birthday celebration they did for many other tables that evening. It felt like they wanted us out as fast as possible.

This all said, this was not my first experience at Mio Modo where I had reservations and then had to wait an exorbitant amount of time to be seated. A previous experience we waited over 30 minutes. We only came back because we love the food and atmosphere, but service is lacking.

While I do appreciate the ways they tried to make up for it, waiting almost an hour when we had reservations was ridiculous. I have been to 100s of other restaurants that never have had wait times with reservations to this extent. This clearly is an issue Mio Modo management struggles with.

Note: I previously wrote a 5 star review as they were offering free cocktails in return for a good review. Be careful on trusting all the...

This was my second time dining here and it completely exceeded my expectations and my first visit here (which wasn’t a bad experience by any means). I honestly can’t remember a time when I had such a great experience at a restaurant. Not only was the food and atmosphere exceptional, our server, James, went completely above and beyond for us, and did whatever he could possible to please the kiddos at our table (which is no easy feat!). After not seeing something on the menu my father thought the restaurant offered, James graciously offered to see if the kitchen would make it for him (which he absolutely didn’t have to do but did out of the kindness of his heart) and the kitchen agreed, which we all very much appreciated. Not only did my dad clean his plate, but he raved about how that was one of the best meals he’s ever eaten. And the rest of our table agreed because his meal was outstanding and so was the rest of our table’s. All of the food was dynamite and we were all happy campers, even my nieces (who are tough critics). James made our experience memorable and did everything he could to make sure had everything we needed and then some. We visited for my birthday and it really made my birthday special and memorable and I can’t wait to come back and ask for James! Thank you, James and everyone at Mio Modo for such a treat — you’re...
