Went to visit a close friend that was at this place today for his birthday. My wife and I ordered a couple of Bloody Marys from a bartender that seemed flustered and rude. I did not want to judge because there was a fair amount of people there (Nothing too crazy, I spent 5 years behind a bar and to me it was slow.) but give her the benefit of the doubt. The service continued to be rude for the time we were there and I was considering ordering food but after being there and experiencing the staff and atmosphere all I wanted to do was leave. My wife got half done with her drink to notice that the glass was cracked and I was shocked that anyone would serve a drink in it. I politely called the bartender and explained that the glass my wife was drinking from was broken and to my surprise what I was told was, “Well I won’t charge you for that but there is nothing I can do.” WHAT?!? There is a lot you can do! Again I kept my composure and we decided we needed to leave. We waited patiently for the bartender to return and asked if we could get the check 1 Bloody Mary and 2 Guinness I figured to be $18. She said I don’t know how much it is, Like $20. I think she was expecting me to leave cash. NOPE I had to wait for her to come back AGAIN to take my card only to get a $19 tab. That seems about right but there was no way in HELL I was going to leave a decent tip. I’m sorry I have done that job and I have worked in the industry for years, if I would have acted like this anywhere I would have been sent packing. This was a disgrace I love going out to eat and get a few drinks and I ALWAY treat the staff with the utmost respect. But after that I wanted to leave without paying at all. I Did leave a tip. It wasn’t even 12% but I don’t think they deserved more. If the staff would have been nicer my tab would have gone from being $19 to well over $60 and I would have left at least my minimum of 22%. (I tend to round up). I’m sorry to say but I will never return and I will take my business elsewhere. I expect that this will happen more often with the staff that is there. My bartenders name I overheard from another patron because she never introduced herself to...
Read moreI went out with my friends last night (Monday night) to start off spring break right & to celebrate my accomplishments of getting straight As for the quarter & making dean's list. We went in and the vibe felt good. I've heard of Alley 64 before so my friends and I were looking forward to a great night out. Eventually one of my friends spilled their drink and he offered to clean it up since he was the one to spill it. Then, a man sitting not too far from us told us to "hype it down" and started saying other things. I tried to deescalate the situation, apologize, and explain to the man what had happened and that we were just laughing at my friend for spilling the drink. The man started mumbling other things so we decided to just head out before anything else happened. Our bartender was this 27 year old woman named Katie. We told her the situation and she said "Watch what you say. Those are my people/friends and you need to leave so I'm going to close your tab." I was surprised that the bartender threatened us and basically kicked us out (we were headed out anyways) instead of being polite and providing proper customer service. We didn't do anything wrong to provoke such a reaction and it killed our mood/end of the night. I've been out and about to bars all over the city of Chicago and I have never experienced poor customer service like this. I believe Katie was rude and she should not be working at Alley 64 or in customer service for that matter and I am surprised that there are other poor reviews about her dating back to 4 years ago and she is STILL working there. It's almost as if the business owner doesn't take customer reviews seriously. I will not be coming back to this business and I will not recommend it to anyone else...
Read moreOnce upon a time, in the charming city of St. Charles, Illinois, there was a local bar called "The Alley." The Alley was famous for its happy hour specials, live music, and most notably, the Alley 64 drinking challenge. The challenge consisted of drinking 64 ounces of beer in under an hour, without leaving the bar or using the restroom.
TJ had been a regular at The Alley for years, and he had attempted the Alley 64 drinking challenge several times before, but had never been able to finish it. However, on this particular night, something was different. TJ was determined to break the record and become the new champion of The Alley 64 drinking challenge.
TJ started off slowly, sipping his beer, trying not to overwhelm his stomach. He watched as others attempted the challenge, and failed, one by one. TJ knew that he had to pace himself, so he continued to sip his beer, taking breaks to chat with his friends and watch the live band.
As the hour approached, TJ knew that he had to pick up the pace if he was going to break the record. He chugged his remaining beer and signaled for the bartender to bring him another. The bartender, amazed by TJ's determination, handed him his final 64-ounce glass of beer.
TJ took a deep breath and began to chug the beer. His friends cheered him on as he downed the beer in record time. As he finished the final drop, the crowd erupted into applause. TJ had done it! He had broken the Alley 64 drinking record in one night!
From that day on, TJ became a local legend in St. Charles. Whenever anyone mentioned The Alley 64 drinking challenge, they would talk about TJ and his amazing feat. TJ had not only broken the record but had set a new standard for anyone who dared to attempt the challenge...
