Brunch Cafe-St.Charles — Restaurant in St. Charles

I hate I even wanted to eat at Brunch Cafe this afternoon. This whole experience was very stressful and disappointing for me my daughter and nephew. Our waitress was a skinny Mexican woman who had a tattoo on her arm and glasses. As soon as we were seated, she quickly brought us out water without asking us what we wanted to drink. She took a while to even come back to the table for my daughter to place her order. Asked for a high chair for the baby she kept passing us up. She didn’t come back after that despite the fact that we were still waiting on her to bring us a highchair for my two year old nephew. We watched as she attended everyone else in the restaurant and seemingly ignored us. Eventually she brought the highchair, but it took asking 2 separate times, waiting about 10 minutes between each time we’d ask, to even seat the baby. We sat patiently at the table, waiting for her to either refill our drinks or take our order, but she never did. My daughter had to tell her we were ready to order due to the fact that she, as a server, did not come back to ask. And seemed to ignore us. Very rude on her behalf. I ordered a $6.99 kids meal for my nephew and ate a couple of fries besides him. Instead of refilling our drinks, it seems like she was watching over us to report me for eating off the baby’s plate. Never did she come to confront us if there was a problem, but rather went to go talk to her coworkers and gossip behind our backs about this issue she may have had… When we walked up to the counter, his meal was charged as an $10.99 adult meal with no fries. Which was odd. I didn’t ask for what was stated on the bill. So the cashier who was a lady, White with blonde hair and big hazel eyes, poorly tried to explain to us that it wasn’t allowed despite the fact that it’s never been brought to my attention any time before. All of a sudden until now We come in roughly once a week, going about eating as normally. It’s all very sudden and unecessarily authoritative in the restaurant I used to find so welcoming. We’ve never experienced this issue with any other server, so I’m not sure what the problem was. She treated us differently from the rest of her tables, and it was very apparent. Overall, I’m disappointed with my experience and frustrated with the two women who acted as if I was in the wrong over a few fries. Like come on guys!!. We are regulars here. I’ve been dining here for the past 4 years. It’s been my favorite restaurant. I enjoyed the good food and atmosphere. I came every week! Unfortunately, that’s come to an end. My mother and I were dining here last week. She bought a Kid’s Meal for my 1 year old nephew. He didn’t eat all of his food because he’s small… she ate a few fries. Our server went to go notify our host without our acknowledgement.The ticket read, “Adult Grilled Cheese, No Fries”. When INDEED we had the Kid’s Meal with the drink & fries. Mind you— our server with glasses, long black hair in one braid and flower tattoos on her arm was very stand-offish with an attitude. I asked for a high-chair and waited 20min before the hostess finally brought it instead. She re-filled coffee and water for other tables but chose to not attended to us. I had to stop her constantly… to take my order, to refill my coffee and water. It feels like she was being prejudice. She kept insisting in up-charging for the meal I wanted. I wanted to remove 2 items off a meal, but instead she wanted me to build a skillet… which would result me in paying more for less ingredients. Makes no sense. When going to pay, the young hostess with Blonde hair and Blue eyes was very defensive and hostile when I notified her the ticket was wrong. She didn’t even let me finish explaining throughly. They wanted to overcharge my mom for the meal, which is not right. Sometimes children don’t finish their meals completely. My mom ate a few fries. She said the manager does not allow that. When asking to speak with the manager, she said the manager was not there. Our server was no where to be found in sight. Instead of our server being present to handle the issue herself. She didn’t even notify us of the ticket. So be weary if you have children that don’t finish all their food, you are not allowed to eat off their plate or you’ll be overcharged. A damn shame… I already was paying for my meal that was a $30 ticket aside of my mom’s. There’s about 3 servers that are really great there! Seems like the hospitality has went down a lot. Wait wasn't long to get seated, but our waitress did not provide good customer service at all. We ordered coffee and iced tea, yet not once during our visit were we checked on or offered refills on our drinks. Coffee is especially one of those drinks that should constantly have someone going around and refilling. Secondly I ordered a panini sandwich that was so bland I tried salt, balsamic, and finally ketchup to give it some flavor. The waitress put in the wrong side dish for my meal but someone else delivered it and left before i could let him know my order was wrong. I flagged someone else down to get my correct side. As I stated, we never saw even 1 person walk around with coffee. I would have thought the Manager would do that so they could check in on their guests as they walked around refilling coffee cups.
