I've always had problems with Dana's Shaved Ice. Ever since they've been open the service has been slow which is why I get stuff there maybe once a season. I went three seasons in a row without getting anything from them because the service was slow. I understand that only two people can be working in the truck at one time but the service is still slow. There was one time I've went that the process to get a snow cone didn't take over seven minuets and that was with a group of 5 people and we all got our snow cones within five minuets. Tonight was by far the worst it has ever been. A friend of mine and myself went to Dana's Shaved Ice at 8:55 p.m. That's five minuets before they closed. The open sign wasn't lit up but I just figured that they were getting ready to shut things down for the night because they closed in five minuets. I got out of my friends car. My order was simple for her little sister a kiddy sized tigers blood and for my friend and myself two medium black cherries. My friend gave me the money for her and her sisters and I got got money out of my wallet for mine. I walked up to the window and stood there for about four minuets. There were two older ladies working in there one was writing in a notebook the other had a bottle of blue cleaning liquid and was wiping the window that they use to take your order. I stood there for around four minuets. Both of the ladies stood there both looking up at me about every twenty seconds but not waving me off or opening the window to take my order. At around the ten minuets of standing there mark I texted my friend and said that no one was talking to me but they were looking up at me. I took one last look at the two ladies who were looking at me but not saying anything and I turned around and walked back into my friends car. I handed my friend the twenty dollar bill she gave me and took a napkin out of the globe compartment in her car. I grabbed a pen out of the side pocket of the passenger side door and wrote a note on the napkin that said "you just lost my service for good tonight. I went three years without getting anything from here and I can wait another few before I go to college. My friends little sister really wanted a snow cone but not one from sonic because her favorite place to get them is here. My friend and myself will personally never come back here again. Thanks for the service you never gave me." I got out of her car and went to put the napkin to where it would stick on the window when I stumbled over a rock and dropped the napkin. The wind caught it and it landed on the ground by one of the trees. I decided that if they found the napkin they did or I could write a review. So my review is rated one star because of what happened tonight. I hope one of the ladies that were working in there or a worker is reading this. The service here has always sucked but it was far...
Read moreI go to Dana's about twice a season because I have a little one. My kid seems to love it, even though I think the selection is rather bland and the ice cream isn't very good, but whatever, it is just ice cream. My biggest complaint is the employees! They are not friendly! I mean, they aren't particularly rude, but getting ice cream is supposed to be pleasant, you can at least say "have a good night" or crack a little smile in greeting. Every time I order from there I get hard, grumpy faces the entire time. Look, I dont expect to be showered with happiness and treated like a queen, I just want a little customer service. I wouldn't have even left this review if it hadn't been for a small incident last night that I just witnessed. The older lady (I think her name is Sue), leaned out the window and called for someone to get thier snowcone. A little boy came up to get his cone, maybe 8 years old, and couldn't really reach to get it, so the lady tilted the cone, spilled juice all over the boy's arm. The lady literally said nothing to him about it, then slammed the window closed. Not a sorry, not a "let me get you a napkin", nothing. Yes, she saw it, she just didn't care. I guess that's what you expect from the friendly employees of...
Read moreFirst off, I Hate to complain! for the most part, I find Dana's a Great place! Friendly workers and quick turnaround. Their ice cream tastes better than DQ. But I suppose my problem is with consistency of portion. One day a larger cone has as much ice cream on it as a regular one did two days before. I ordered a pint once and was given a container which clearly was not a pint. I have ordered quarts before and found when I get home that half the container is empty when I get home. Some (not all) of the workers need to understand How to fill a to-go container by adding a little, then tapping the container on its bottom for the ice cream to settle, then adding more and then tapping it again and so on. This process which many places know how to do, clearly ensures the container gets completely Full and I got my $6 plus tax worth of ice cream. I think these are some great folks and have no personal grudge with any of them. But would Really Like it if when I bought a large cone I got a large cone all the time and when I order a quart, I get a whole quart and not half a quart of ice cream and half a quart of air. I am still giving them a chance and hope to see things improve in that area and will...
