If there was 0 stars, then this would be the place to get it. I went went with one other person on Monday 9//5/22 @12:21PM (noted from my digital receipt) and had a terrible experience as a visitor to Missouri.
We ordered 2 coffees and a berry shake and when they called us out for drinks, the baristas were missing a coffee. They did not even know what they were missing, and we had to show them the receipt. After getting our entire drink order, we tried the coffee and wasn’t a fan. Starbucks or other coffee shops we have tried are better. The smoothie was good though.
When server Tavien W took our order, he informed us that food would be an hour wait, and we proceeded to accept the wait time. We hit the hour mark waiting for food and started to get curious about our order, given that we were getting close to the cafes closing time. At the hour and 15 minute mark, we asked an order taker where our food was. Tavien W told us he would check in the back and never gave us an update. 5 minutes later, we asked a different order taker (who did not have a name tag), and he check in the back once again. The cooks told him that the order was already taken out. However, our buzzer never went off, nor did we receive any food from our order. The cafe had to pull up our receipt and remake the order 20 minutes prior to closing. We then waited more time for the food, which didn’t seemed rushed by the cooks. Once we received the food, the turkey avocado sandwich was extremely small for $11. We could have made this at home or purchased from a different restaurant with better proportions for the price. It was literally the size of my small palm. Additionally, my avocado toast had a cold scramble egg on top (after having a ridiculous wait time), the proportions was once again poor for the price (pictured was half of the toast with cold eggs), and the avocado spread was thin and was the prepackaged avocado from the grocery store.
With all of these issues, it was not worth being refunded as we were already frustrated with the service from entering the cafe and just wanted to leave. Before leaving, we wanted to use the restroom. In mid-sentence of asking for a pin or key for the restroom, the worker interrupted the question, proceeded to say the pin in a rude tone, and continued to talk with her coworkers. She, again, did not have a name tag, but was making drinks during our time at the cafe. This was horrible customer service as she interrupted our sentence and then turned...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting this charming coffee cafe that left a lasting impression on me. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately set the tone for a delightful experience. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, promising a treat for both my taste buds and senses. As I perused the menu, I was amazed by the diversity of offerings, ranging from classic espresso drinks to innovative specialty blends. Each sip of coffee was a revelation, boasting rich and complex flavors that were expertly crafted by skilled baristas who clearly took pride in their work. Accompanying the stellar coffee selection was a menu of delicious food options, with everything from hearty breakfast sandwiches to decadent pastries that perfectly complemented my beverage of choice. However, what truly set this cafe apart was the impeccable service provided by the staff. Not only were they attentive and friendly, but they also went above and beyond to ensure that every guest felt welcomed and cared for. Whether offering recommendations or simply engaging in friendly conversation, their genuine warmth and hospitality made me feel like a valued patron. In sum, my experience at this coffee cafe was nothing short of exceptional. With its outstanding coffee and food offerings, impeccable service, and unmatched diversity, it's no wonder that this establishment has earned a place in my heart as a must-visit destination for coffee...
Read moreThe food and coffee are both pretty excellent. I've been coming to Kayak's for about a year and a half now; I started coming because of it's location being right next to the Skinker Metrolink station and working in the Delmar Loop. First impression was that the building is big for a coffee shop with many two person tables and window seating along most of the wall space. The decor is cabin in the woods themed. I typically order lattes or iced tea for myself and pour-over coffees for my friends. The lattes are delicious and foamy, almost always topped with a piece of latte art. The vanilla latte is my usual stand-by, but the seasonal ones (mint, brown sugar and rosemary, maple and pumpkin) are awesome as well. There is a broad variety of food, including soup of the day, salads, sandwiches, wraps, assorted pastries, and more. The toasted cheese, cowboy burrito, and the soups are my faves. The service is prompt, kind, and well-delivered. While there may be many orders going at once, Kayak's comes off as well staffed and service is typically quick. Kayak's was my first introduction to the STL coffee scene and has changed my standards for coffee...
