Decent food. Absolutely horrible service.

Went in during the week at an off rush hour between lunch and dinner. Never visited this restaurant before and was excited to try it based off their menu online.

Just me and one person. Walked into the restaurant and was greeted in a gruff manor and then sat at the table. Was brought water but never asked if either of us wanted something else. The server came over and said ready to order? And I said the 2 appetizers and he was like "what else" and I said I wasn't sure would need more time to place food order. He mumbled something about ordering all food at one time and walked away.

Besides our table there were 2 other tables one was done and waiting for their check the other was eating. We decided on our food and at least 15 minutes passed (getting ready to leave by this point) when the server returns to ask what we want to eat. I say my order and still looking at me he says "what else" and I motioned towards my friend who then ordered. As I was handing him to 2 menus he jerked them out of my hands. Our appetizers came out and I said thank you and he refused to even look at us by this point. When our food arrived he just walked away (we had no napkins and none were visible in the restaurant to grab). So I asked for some napkins and he grumbled and then brought napkins and huffed off.

Seriously the rudest service I've ever had in any restaurant on South Grand.

The food was fine...but go to Pho Grand or Cafe Mochi instead. Don't give your money to these rude people.

I think it might have been because we were 2 obviously queer people but not sure.

Ran into a friend as we left and they said oh yeah, that place is notorious for bad service. From a server who works on Grand.

For real eat...

Honestly I doubt the owner/server cares at this point or even bothers to read these reviews because he hasn’t changed a bit. In fact, I think his service has become even ruder and that’s coming from someone who has been going to LemonGrass since 2012. Usually I can just handle his rude behavior, but today was too much.

I went in this afternoon with my parents and husband to celebrate my birthday. We were seated and waited about 10 minutes before the rude server came over with our waters. He abruptly asked us if we knew what we wanted and we did. My dad said iced coffees for all of us and an order of spring rolls, to which I said “as well as an order of summer rolls please”. He immediately jumped on me and said “one person at a time, tell me everything you want”. His tone was so abrasive and it felt very hostile. He just seemed put out by our visiting even though there were only two other tables in the entire restaurant.

We got our orders in and he only brings out one ice coffee. I said “oh sorry, we all wanted ice coffees” as my dad had pointed out earlier but he said “you didn’t tell me that when it was your turn. This is my system.” In an incredible aggressive tone. It really just made us all feel uncomfortable. The rest of the meal he never checked on us or even looked in our direction. One woman brought out our food and she was a friendly, helpful face. She asked us if we needed anything else and it was a breath of fresh air.

It’s a disappointment because the food is actually delicious, but I can’t support a restaurant that treats their paying customers with such little respect. I will be going Pho Grand from...

DINER BEWARE

Came here on a weekday just a little past 8pm looking for a hot, comforting soup meal. The other Asian places were closing but this posted closing a little later so opted here. We walked in and the man at the counter just stared at us, with the most unwelcoming face I've seen in a restaurant that said why are you here when nobody else is? I realized that despite the weekday hour, most restaurants in the vicinity were at least half full and this one was empty.

Uh-oh, red flag 🛑🚨🚩

Still more hungry than caring, we proceeded to take our seats (man didn't even ushered us in). He brought us menus and we ordered our choices after a few minutes. After getting our orders, he told us that they close at 9PM, just 30 minutes left! The sign says 930pm i thought!. No point arguing now with our tummies grumbling and not wanting to ruin our own evening. We waited for our meal with one eye on our watches. The dishes came and we hurried to finish them, whatever we can. It was an unpleasant experience! The food didn't even taste good! Whoever left reviews about good food was definitely mistaken!!!

We paid in cash as we didn't trust leaving our credit card details and left. We just salvaged our evening with ice cream down the street.

It's so sad how this restaurant is grossly mismanaged. The place has an elegant space with patio dining, very promising for any successful cuisine a restaurateur can use it for. It's located in a street corner with wide large windows on both streets. I actually love the space on...

As I peacefully napped on a park bench in Tower Grove Park, I was rudely awakened by an acorn smacking me in the face. Apparently, the local squirrel militia was not thrilled with my snoring and decided to declare war. I bravely retaliated with their own acorns, but soon realized I was outnumbered and had to hightail it out of there. I ended up on South Grand, famished from my squirrel-induced cardio workout. Luckily, I stumbled upon LemonGrass restaurant, a haven for delicious Vietnamese cuisine. The warm welcome and cozy atmosphere instantly put me at ease as I dove into a feast of spring rolls and vermicelli with chicken curry, while my useless dinner companion, who did nothing but laugh at me while the squirrel attacked, opted for the char broiled beef variation. The flavors were on point, the veggies perfectly cooked, and the spring rolls with their divine dipping sauce were a true highlight. LemonGrass has been a staple in my dining rotation for the past 7 years, and for good reason. The authentic Vietnamese flavors never fail to impress, making it a must-visit spot for anyone craving a taste of the exotic.

I shared lunch with 2 girl friends on a drizzly Saturday in March. They had never eaten here before- it was a treat to watch them enjoy the Rice Hot Pots for the first time. I never order any other entree' when I come to Lemongrass, although next time I'm going to order the Crispy Duck. We started with 3 appetizers: Butter Chicken Wings, Vegetarian Summer Rolls and Crab Rangoon. All were fresh and very delicious. For entrees, we ordered the Chicken, Shrimp and Special Rice Hot Pots. We had just the right amount of time to eat our appetizers, then the pots arrived- the rice was simmering and crackling in the cast iron pots. Meat and veg served in a delicious brown sauce over crunchy rice. Our waiter was very friendly sharing his favorites. We had leftovers which I will enjoy for lunch today. It's fun to impress your friends with great food and a nice atmosphere. My friends are already planning another visit- they loved Lemongrass! I'm always a fan.

Wow, the stories of the unfriendly employee (or owner?) here are not exaggerated! He works alone, so he's clearly run ragged when there are four or five tables. You'll get water when you get water. You'll order when he's ready. If they're out of something, he'll tell you sharply and you should be ready with an alternative. The food was delicious. I had the charbroiled pork and egg rolls with vermicelli noodles, and spring rolls. But for me, the service is an important part of the experience. If I ever spend money there again (which is unlikely), I'll take my order to go.
