Edit: I am changing my review of everything to 1 Star due to the owner being unwilling to assess my complaints properly. I called in asking to leave some words about the issue to see if there would be a resolution. The owner did not call me back until just after their "PoS system" would not "let them" accommodate my party's complaints for the mediocre food, and all she did was make poor excuses whilst sounding offended when I told her the food was "okay at best" this particular visit. How convenient that I called the following day and she waited until it was too late for me to be helped.
The owner of this location is scummy and her ethics are questionable at best. I will be avoiding all DiOrio's locations in the future thanks to the poor follow-up service, if you could even call it that, and you should avoid it as well.
Original review: The food is mediocre. Sauces like marinara and "beer cheese" have been obviously frozen. We ordered an order of "D's fried balls", which were great, breadsticks with "beer cheese" (which was separated, again, had already been frozen before and then reheated, and smelled so bad that everyone was afraid to taste said "beer cheese"), a philly steak pizza, and one pizza with half cheese and half mushrooms. The breadsticks were a significant downgrade to the fried balls, the pizza toppings were largely flavorless, and the pizzas were lacking sauce to bring the cheese and dough together. The only redeeming quality to the pizzas was the garlic sauce we got with our fried balls and breadsticks, which was not even made in-house, instead being a pre-packed dipping cup made by another company.
We did not dine in, so I cannot speak appropriately on the service or atmosphere, especially as I'm not one for pub-types. It did, however, take me awhile to be noticed by staff when I was waiting at the counter to pick up my order.
Overall, this place, or perhaps just this location, should be avoided. There are plenty of other pizza places worth exploring...
Read moreWent out to eat with my husband on Saturday, Feb. 18th and we decided to give DiOrio's a try. We went to the St. Matthews location since we heard it was the original. They were very busy, and there were no open tables at the moment so we went to the bar to order a couple drinks while we waited for an open table (apparently you seat yourself, though a sign saying so would be helpful). We finally got the attention of an extremely rude bartender, who was clearly gay and had some sort of Eastern European accent (I love all my gay friends, but there is a very clear difference between a little bit of sass and just plain rude and he was just plain rude). I was also appalled to be forced to listen to some loud, scruffy man to come out of the kitchen to yell profanities out into the dining room at his waiting staff, whom from what I could tell were working as hard and as fast as they could. My experience was saved to some degree by our server when we finally got a table. I cannot remember his name, but he was a very friendly, funny gentleman with an amusing Star Wars shirt (I love places that let their servers express themselves). He was very attentive, friendly, and anticipated our every need. He knew the menu well and did an excellent job with his beer, appetizer. and pizza suggestions (we got the Dough Balls, and a delicious Buffalo Chicken Pizza with a couple of ShockTops). If it were not for this young man's service, I don't believe we'd give this establishment another chance, but because of him we will. I wish I could remember the young man's name to request his service in the future, but you can't miss him: he's the very friendly gentleman with the fun t-shirt who always seems to be running around helping...
Read moreDiOrio’s Pizza & Pub is a great spot, especially for pizza lovers. The atmosphere is fun and inviting, with a bar-like setup that makes it a good place to hang out and enjoy a meal. My only minor complaint is the one broken TV—it’s not a huge deal, but if they fixed it, the vibe would be even better.
Service-wise, our waiter was excellent. They were knowledgeable about the menu and helped guide us through the different pizza options. The variety here is impressive, with something to satisfy just about any taste. One thing to note is that the pizzas and slices are massive, so definitely come with an appetite or plan to take some home.
The restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall experience. While there was a bit of a wait for our food, it was absolutely worth it. When it arrived, everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. The flavors were great, and the quality of ingredients was evident.
Overall, DiOrio’s delivers a solid pizza experience with a cool atmosphere, great service, and a menu full of tasty options. If they can get that TV fixed, the place would be even better. But even as it stands, it’s definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re in the mood for some seriously big and...
