WOW!!! So read this with a grain of salt or a splash of soy! The place is not fancy, but it is organized, clean, smells and looks fresh. Very well lit. Upon arrival you are directed to a table and asked whether you will order off the menu or do buffet (if available, note the image for buffet specific hours). I did the buffet. Not a huge list of items, your regular items for a Chinese buffet. But a huge part of my 5 stars comes from here. They had the best hot and sour soup I have had in my life. Not too sour, just perfect; as you can see I had two cups. And I've had my share of hot and sour soups and this was amazing!!!
Another huge part of my 5 stars is that each item actually taste the way it should be. As if you had ordered it from the menu. Many buffets do something whether use same oil or too similar ingredients that the buffet is mono flavor.
Here there are some similar tastes, like chicken and shrimp that are in a spicy recipe but that is as similar as they will get. Other dishes had their own perfect unique flavor. I loved that they were separate flavors. Fried rice pot was nothing to write home about, but you won't mind that. Even the fried chicken was better than some fried chicken places.
Desserts were very Chinese buffet like, but at this point I was so satisfied, it did not matter at all.
Many Asians dining there, which should be a good sign as well. The dishes off menu, from what I could see at other tables looked amazing too. Phone was constant ring which meant many orders being placed.
Service was friendly professional and quick, never overwhelming. Just perfect timing to refill my drink or check that everything was great.
Then the price value, just the perfect price. The overall dining experience is amazing and I just saved this place as my favorite for Chinese in Louisville. Keep up the...
Read moreTripe is better than the oriental house. Cheung Fun was good, but their sauce is different from other dim sum restaurants. It has a sweeter taste. The beef mei fun was mediocre. It barely had any taste to it, and it was oily. The service was terrible. We walked in right when it opened, so we were the first customers. The hostess was on the phone and so we stood there for a while until she motioned us to sit down. It was a while till the waitress came over and gave us the menu and then left. We didn't even mention if we wanted dim sum or order. But when we got the food, we asked the people who pushed to carts to get more rice and order mei fun, but she said I'm not the waitress. I was taken aback. No one says that. Even if you're not the waitress, you should say sure or something and just pass the message to whoever is doing it. The small bowl of rice took about 5-10 minutes. While there were several other people nearby folding the silverware and chit chatting, we waited for an unreasonable amount of time. We were practically finished with the dim sum food by the time we got it. It's just sad that we were the only people at the restaurant and yet the service was so slow. Food is okay (can't find a lot of good places here) but service...
Read moreThe last time I visited Jade Palace, the buffet was lukewarm after the first time I went through the line so four of us decided to order off the menu. The rest ordered the buffet. Three of us were served about a half hour after ordering. One of those three was served rice even though he had asked for no rice, miniature corn even though he had asked for no miniature corn and the two that ordered spring rolls as appetizers never got their spring rolls. I wasn't served until about most at my table had finished eating. I had asked for low spice on my kung pao chicken. It was served at full spice. I wasn't served my rice so had to get up and go back to the kitchen and ask for the rice. The woman bringing the food to the table said the ticket said no rice. I found out later that wasn't true when I got my bill and nowhere did it say, "no rice", I wasn't compensated for the poor service as my bill was full price. I doubt I will return after two bad...
