Nick's Pizza — Restaurant in Stamford

If I could give Nick's Pizza 5 more stars, I would. I have been going to Nick's Pizza since 1996, and it is consistently fabulous all across the board in every single category. Whether eating together with friends, having a romantic dinner, or having a party; Nick's is definitely the place for good food. I have three passions: traveling, eating, and cooking. I travel for a living. Wherever I go, I am always disappointed by over-priced restaurants with mediocre food that claim they are the best (to include NYC). In all my travels (and this is no exaggeration), Nick's is the best Italian restaurant in quality of food, service, and price. You cannot beat it! And what I love is that they are not greedy, and jack up the price or slack in their service. At Nick's they are honest, humble, and hard-working. Their Margherita pizza is so refreshing with its flavors, thin crunchy crust, and perfect portion. You still feel light after eating it, and will always come back for more. The Penne Vodka pasta is so tasty and addictive that it never gets old (even when you reheat it the next day). I have eaten Penne Vodka all over the U.S., and nowhere even comes close. Every time I recommend it to a friend, they are always pleased. I wish Nick's would put up their Penne Vodka recipe against some of those over-priced "authentic Italian" restaurants in NYC and Jersey. Nick's would win hands down with no contest. I love their Chicken Marsala. It is tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I cannot stand when you get a chicken breast entree at a restaurant and it is dried out, tasteless in the middle, and lacks garnishing. I am guessing Nick's probably tenderizes their meet very well by pounding it because each mouth-watering bite is full of flavor from beginning to end. The mushrooms they garnish it with are fresh, juicy, and plentiful. The wine selection is definitely a good variety, and the staff makes excellent recommendations based on what entree you order. Great pizza and Italian food which is consistently good and very reasonably priced. I have never been disappointed. If for some reason you would like to change something, or found it not to your liking, they will gladly adjust the food or replace it to your liking. The staff: from the owner Maria, to the managers, to the servers and cooks are accommodating, professional, nice, and efficient in every way. I recently had a party at Nick's and they were excellent and helpful in the price, service, and food. I would recommend Nick's to anyone who is looking to have a small party with a homely atmosphere. Great service, and great tasting food that is the same, if not better, than the Italian food you got at home. Maria and the staff are great. I trust their judgment and experience completely when they make a suggestion or change. They always courteously ask before they go through with a change in plans, but because of their experience, you don't have to worry. This last party I had at Nick's for my daughter made a perfect and very memorable day for my wife, myself, and all our guests. My guests are still talking about the great food, service, and atmosphere. When they ask about the cost, I tell them how much it cost, and they don't believe that "all that service and food only cost that much." The owner Maria is very fair and will go out of her way to make sure things are perfect. My wife and I were stressed in planning the party at first because we wanted everything to go perfect. However, once we got there, Maria and her staff TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING! My wife and I actually relaxed, ate our food, and could mingle with all our guests without a care in the world. Seeing and knowing that the staff at Nick's is this good, definitely makes me recommend them to anyone for catering or hosting a party there. Thank you for everything Maria and all the staff at Nick's. You really made my daughter's event memorable and special to all of us. We all love your food, and will definitely come back...

I came here with a guest who had a NY State ID. Our server could not verify that the ID was legitimate and would not serve us. First off, as a restaurant in STAMFORD, it baffled us that they did not have enough experience with NY IDs. Even worse, I looked and saw the server showing the ID to other CUSTOMERS at the bar to see if they can tell it was legit. Is this even legal? It also did not help that we were the only non white people in the restaurant. I'm not one to pull the race card, but it was definitely noticeable. I'm sure the food is good but we will never know as I will not be coming here again.

EDIT: I don't accept this response. We went to Colony Grill right after. Called in to ask for the server's name so we could be more specific in this review. We reached a man who wouldn't give it. I told him the situation and in a Karen moment, asked to raise this with the manager. He said that the woman who served us WAS the manager.

During that time before COVID, we went out to restaurants 3-5x per week. This was the first and only time we were...

I ordered Chicken Marsala and the chicken was raw. I did not notice until I'd already eaten a bit. I called the restaurant immediately and the man who answered had a very hard time believing that the chef who's been there for 30 years sent out raw chicken. I sent pictures to him. No reply. I am very sick today. I called the restaurant this morning and explained the situation again to a much nicer man who at least apologized and said he'd have a manager call me shortly when they got in. No manager has called. Nicks Pizza made me sick, refused to believe their chef sent me raw chicken...and I gave them plenty of time to make it right. With their lack of response or even care for this matter, I feel I now am left with no other choice but to post this review of my experience.
