If I could give this zero stars, I would!
I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Riviera, and I must express my disappointment with the overall unprofessionalism exhibited by the staff. From the moment I entered, it was evident that customer care was not a priority.
The staff appeared unhappy and miserable, displaying a shocking lack of enthusiasm for their roles. The bartender, in particular, failed to inform me promptly that they were considering not serving food due to the proximity to closing time. This lack of communication left me waiting for my ordered drinks without knowledge of the impending issue.
Moreover, the bartender's lack of knowledge about the red wine selections was appalling. Having to consult someone else for basic information on their wine menu demonstrated a clear lack of expertise. When I finally received information about the limited wine options, the delay in pouring a tasting prevented me from enjoying a meal altogether.
Requesting a menu was met with reluctance, and my inquiries about menu items were met with impatience. The bartender's failure to accurately convey my order to the chef further exacerbated the situation. The dismissive attitude and the chef's refusal to accommodate my request were disheartening, ultimately leading me to leave the establishment.
To add to my concerns, the indifference towards my departure and the feeling of being overlooked raise serious questions about the professionalism and, frankly, the ethics of [Restaurant Name]. The experience left me questioning whether the treatment I received was influenced by discriminatory attitudes, which is deeply troubling.
In short, my visit to Riviera Maya was nothing short of a disaster, marked by poor service, lack of expertise, and an overall disregard for customer satisfaction. I strongly advise against dining at this establishment, as my experience indicates a severe lack of professionalism and potentially...
Read moreI had the worst experience celebrating my birthday there. I made a reservation for 30 people. They asked me $300 deposit for holding the tables. I spoke with the manager and asked her to separate the bills by table (5) . They didn't do it. The people asked to buy their drinks at the bar they didn't let them. When they gave us the bill it was a huge bill since I asked to separate by table. The prices at the bill were more expensive than the prices in the menu🙄 (They change it). The air conditioner wasn't working. The people was sweating. They said they'll fix it but it never happen. When the party was ending cause the people was leaving ( it was too hot). I asked the servers to bring the cake. They never put a happy birthday song for me and never gave me the Mexican hat like they used to give it to the birthday person😣. My friend asked the servers to help with the cake since we had to cut for 30 ppl (They were waching instead of helping). The manager was supposed to tell me if someone arrive after 10 they have to pay to get in (she never mention that) when my friends arrived they had to pay even if they were coming to a b-day party. They orfer food in a separate table and when they pay it was 20% tip included🙄 for only 3 people. This is my 3rd birthday I celebrate in Rivera Maya. I never had a experience like this before. I think the manager is not doing a good job. She lies a lot and is not very helpful😣. I wolud never celebrate my birthday again at ...
Read moreRiviera Maya offers tasty Peruvian cuisine with some standout dishes, but the overall dining experience is affected by slow and inattentive service.
Walking into Riviera Maya, we stood waiting at the host stand for a minute with no one in sight, which set the tone for the service. Once seated, we waited around 10 minutes before anyone took our order. The server took our menus before we even had the chance to confirm what we wanted, which felt rushed and a bit unprofessional. After placing our order, the food came out about 10 minutes later.
The food itself was solid. We ordered tacu tacu—a seafood dish served over rice in a rich sauce—and I had the 8oz steak with rice, fries, plantains, egg, peppers, and a few stalks of asparagus. The fries and rice were a tad under-seasoned, and the steak was initially overcooked. I sent it back, and while the server seemed irritated, the second steak they brought out was perfect: tender, soft, and flavorful.
The total came out to about $90 with a 15% gratuity included. My dish was $49, and with a basic estimate, my dad’s tacu tacu was likely around $30–$32, plus two drinks (a water and a club soda), which fits the final total.
While the food was enjoyable, the service really needs work. A more attentive, welcoming approach would elevate the experience significantly. I’d consider coming back for the food, but I’d hope to see improvements on the...
