11/9/2024 —4pm is —Off we went on our MSC cruise out of Brooklyn – same as last year because, honestly, why not? No flights, no hassle. This time, we decided to spend the night at the Marriott in Stamford, Connecticut (found a great deal!). Along the way, I thought it'd be fun to stop at a Colombian restaurant. My husband, though, insisted we wait until we reached the hotel. And thank goodness I listened! We stumbled upon Las Noches de Colombia.
Easy parking right out front – score! The entrance was full of character: there were neon lights and stairs leading down to what looked like a salsa club basement. I figured they probably throw some lively salsa nights down there, I really don’t know . On the right as you walk in, you’re greeted by a pastry counter that tempts you to dive right in. But I held off – saving room for the main event!
One thing about my Colombian parceros: they know how to treat a client. It’s a hallmark of theirs. I’ve been to many places and countries, and whenever I find a Colombian restaurant, I know I’ll be treated right. Our waiter, Juan, was the friendliest. I asked for my coffee half-and-half (half coffee, half milk) because they didn't have decaf. He nailed it, and my husband, who’s super picky about coffee, was impressed too. He ordered shrimp with plantains, which was amazing, and my "El Paisita" was excellent as well. The restaurant itself was spacious, and even the bathroom had flair – colorful doors and dimmed lights. Salsa music was playing, so naturally, I did a quick two-second dance move. Briefly, it felt like a mini nightclub!
As we ate, "Llorarás" by Oscar de León came on. I told my husband about the school bus back in high school that used to blast salsa like it was a party bus. I was more into reggae back then, so salsa drove me crazy. But now? I’ve come to appreciate it!
Highly recommend Las Noches de Colombia. The place is lively, with colorful wall art and TVs. Already saved it on Google Maps for next time I’m nearby. It’s super convenient, right off...

Read moreMy recent dining experience at Noches de Colombia was far from satisfactory. Our party of 11 had high hopes for a pleasant evening, but we were met with disappointment from the start. The service was subpar, as our waitress rudely declined to offer any recommendations or suggestions regarding the unfamiliar menu.
To make matters worse, the billing process was a complete mess. We were charged for appetizers we didn't order, and drinks were added to the bill twice. What's even more concerning is that three of our guests who ordered seafood ended up with food poisoning. This is not only a terrible inconvenience but also a potential danger to the community. We will be filing a complaint with the appropriate department to address this issue.
I can't in good conscience recommend this restaurant. If you find yourself there, stick to the most common dishes to avoid any unpleasant surprises. Double-check your bill and keep a close eye on the number of drinks you order, as they seem prone to adding extras without your consent.
Additionally, the service within the restaurant left much to be desired. We had to repeatedly request basic utensils like spoons and forks. All in all, our experience was marred by poor service, billing errors, and a significant health risk associated with their...
