This is a very nicely conceived new cafe in downtown Stamford but for me personally it is not quite my cup of tea. I enjoy quiet cafes where I can sit back and have conversation or read a book while sipping on my beverage (usually tea), however the music the owner has chosen is distracting and the noise level is high as patrons try to talk above the music. Places like this live or die based upon the quality of the coffee and the bar has been set very high by nearby Lorca which had already established its coffee presence in downtown Stamford. I haven't tried the coffee yet but hopefully they've done their homework and training. I had tea on my first visit. It was loose leaf and fine. Seating is very comfortable and reasonable parking is available in the nearby in the Target parking garage or on the street. Food prices are high but in conformance with downtown pricing. I would probably choose eating in a restaurant if I was looking for some food. Overall, a nice addition to the downtown scene, especially since it is attached to the Ferguson Library but for me, I rather go to Coffee Roasters in downtown Greenwich or the newly renovated Starbucks on High Ridge for a quiet read together with a more afforable beverage...
Read moreI stayed at the Marriott about a block away for a few days for a conference and found Winfield on Yelp. I went there 3 mornings in a row because my first visit was so great. I ordered an iced latte and ham egg and cheese on a bagel. The service was friendly and fast. I ate at a table and watched people come in and out. Given its outside of the semester, it was not busy at all and I enjoyed my time. The latte was perfectly balanced and refreshing and the sandwich was tasty and filling. I don’t know why but I ordered the same thing all three days with different results. The service was always friendly, but on the 2nd day I was offered a plain or everything bagel and got an onion bagel. This is ok as I would have picked it if that was offered. The last day, the service was fast and friendly but I took it back to my hotel room. The sandwich was a hot mess with egg and cheese spilling out all over the place. I had to eat it with my fingers and could not pick it up like a sandwich. So while the service was friendly and efficient and the food was fresh and tasty, there was inconsistency on the food side. It’s a solid choice for breakfast and coffee and I would still...
Read moreTrendy spot with a very unique decorative interior. Great selection of drinks (as a non-coffee enthusiast I drink the Lemongrass Green Tea) and delicious food (the home fries in the Hungry Man are SEASONED!) But that it not why I keep coming.
I've been coming here for about two weeks to study for a HUGE exam. Al, Justin, and the crew are so lovely and kind. They always greet you at the door with a smile (or what I assume is a smile because face masks people!). They are super knowledgeable about their menu and are dedicated to serving up a prime experience for the community of Stamford. How do I know? Justin went out of his way to help me use the app to get points for the times I visited prior. Al is super nice and tries to remember my order as I walk through the door. They have a dog bowl and fill it with fresh water so that people can chill with their pups outdoors. They have baskets of old books from the library for FREE.
Truly a hidden gem adjacent the Ferguson Library Downtown. 6 out of 5 stars. Have been coming to this spot, almost daily. You won't regret replacing your Starbucks order with Winfield Street Coffee. (Also bring your UCONN ID student...
