Writing my first detailed review for a US based Indian restaurant because none of previous ones were worthy enough acc. to me. We basically live in New York City so just wanted to escape the city hustle and have a relaxed evening. That's the reason we drove all the way to Stamford. We were craving for some Indian food so Googled and found this 5 starred restaurant. The only thing that dragged us to this one is the bamboo biryani pic that we saw in the reviews.
We had the following at the restaurant: Basil Malai Chicken: a good twist to the Indian Malai chicken with the perfect hint of basil. The best part was that it wasn't loaded with all the malai(cream/butter)... perfect blend of protein and fat for the taste buds that want crave mild.
Masala Crab Cakes: Though named Masala crab cakes these aren't spicy at all. They have americanised it. Comes with Caviar and beautiful garnishing.
Chicken Tikka Masala: This was one of the finest chicken tikka masala i have had here in USA. I like it spicy so requested the chef to do so. Usually when I ask it to make spicy, chefs add just the chilli powder. But this was spicy and not just hot. Perfectly balancing!!!
Butter garlic Naan: Soft, delicate melt in your mouth naan. perfect to go the tikka masala gravy. You can see in the pictures that there is only one quarter of the naan left because we could not resist ourselves to have them.
5.Bamboo Biryani: This was served hot right from the bamboo and tasted Yummmmmmmmm....... we were so full already yet almost finished it... i wish I could have recorded the video when he served it. The portion size is amazing.
Dessert : Surprisingly they also have Shrikhand on the menu.....and last but not the least Gulab Jamun...
Virgin Mojito: they did not have it on their menu card but the he made one for me. It had all the fresh Pudina (Mint)..so much that i could think of making mint chutney right then and there (JK)
Venue: Overall the place is a calm and nice. good for a casual dinner. they also played the all time favourite Bollywood songs.
Extra Marks: For the clean and tide fragrant washrooms. Noteworthy to click pictures. hence uploading them too.
Also, do meet Mr. Sanket here who served us with a big smile on his face . Such welcoming service will definitely want you to comeback...

Here’s is why: We wish we lived in this area. We would have been regulars in that case. Wow!!! What an amazing dining experience. We saw the reviews at 4.9 in disbelief. We felt that this is too good to be true. Now we know that this place is simply too good!!! Small warm place with upbeat energy. They welcomed us with positive energy. Basket of roasted papad was a pleasant surprise. Three condiments (3 chutneys) were amazing. Mango lassi they have is by far the best lassi we have ever had and we love our mango lassi!!! Thickness of lassi, yogurt taste, balance of mango and sugar, perfectly cold. Taste was to die for. We ordered Masala Dosa. Great taste and fresh ingredients. Part of the dosa was slightly burnt as we found out about half way through it. They were quick to get a new one made for us. With a genuine smile. We felt bad since we had eaten some of the first one. Kottu paratha was very tasty. I have had it in Tamilnadu recently. This one was way better than what I tasted in Tamilnadu. We also had Paneer Tikka Masala. Gravy was perfect blend of spice, sweetness and creaminess. Paneer was just perfect. Not too soft, not too hard and not dry. Amazing. Our server was Binu who was the best. Rishikesh and Santosh (?) also helped out. All of them were simply brilliant. Team work was very evident. Binu understood exactly what spice level etc we were looking for and his communication with the chef is obviously too good. Portions were generous. Presentation was great. Awesome ambiance. Sumptuous meal. Price was appropriate. We parked at the Target parking lot. Very convenient. We had to get mango lassi to go as well. You will...
Read moreI can't stress enough how much I love Taj! I've been coming here for years, and love exploring their huge variety of absolutely delicious menu options. Some of my favorite parts of the Taj experience include the super fresh, soft, and chewy naan (my go-to is garlic!), the lunchtime thali special, and their mango lassi. Also, if you're on the fence about trying this place out, the Sunday brunch/lunch buffet is such a great way to sample a ton of their dishes, all freshly made. They have many different appetizers, veg and non-veg entrees, salad, and dessert options! If you haven't tried their buffet, do yourself a favor and go - I feel like I discover a new menu item every time!
I also can't end this review without giving a shout-out to the amazing servers and staff who are and have always been a master class in customer service. Seriously, bravo, guys - you're a big part of the reason I keep coming back! I feel so welcome and well taken care of every time I visit. During today's visit, Anita greeted us with such warm, friendly professionalism, and helped my visiting in-laws feel at home right away. She set the tone, and the team of servers did a phenomenal job of following up to create a cozy dinner experience that was a perfect blend of family-style and fine dining. We all loved our meal, and were completely stuffed with deliciousness by the end. Of course, the guys were kind enough to provide us with to-go containers because we can't wait to have our leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Maybe even breakfast!
Thanks for everything, guys! As you know, we'll be back. See you soon, can't wait for our next...
