My husband recently found out that there's a Capriotti's in town. He follows them on social media and now we finally get to try it! We live about 25 minutes away so we made our way to Star.
We did check out the online menu so we knew what we wanted when we got there. We did take another minute to look over the menu in person. The gal that was helping was neither rude or nice. She was just mehh. She took our order and was quite expressionless. As our first time there, her service was a little off putting.
For lunch my husband got a Philly with no extras, just meat and cheese. I got the grilled Italian with hot and sweet peppers. We also got a small naked fry. My sandwich was ok. It was loaded with meat and veggies. There was something about it that I didn't really care for. I did ask for a side of mayo. Adding the mayo helped. The peppers did add a nice heat to it! After finishing my sandwich, I believe it's the Italian type herbs that was sprinkled on. I didn't really care for it. My husband's sandwich was really good! The meat was cooked nicely and the cheese was melty. I took a couple bites of his and it was tasty. The fries were nicely salted. For a small you got a good amount of fries! They were a nice addition to the sandwich.
With Jimmy John's, Jersey Mike's and Uncle Giuseppe's around the corner from us, the service and the sandwich didn't thrill me to the point that I'd drive 25 minutes to come back. The service and the sandwich was ok. We did have to see what he hype was all about but after reading some other reviews, it doesn't look like what I was experiencing was something abnormal. I guess if I'm ever in the area again I might give it another shot but I don't see myself coming...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame in today for the Grand Opening. What a vibrant environment. Countless staff working behind the counter taking orders, making cold sandwiches and crafting the hot ones. Four different size options for the sandwiches, so I went with the medium, which is 10 inches. I chose the "Classic Club" which had a great combination of hand-pulled turkey, sliced ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato, provolone and mayo. I asked for xtra mayo and they took me seriously. I paid $13.77 for the sandwich alone and it had some weight to it when they handed it over. I'm not sure if that's the everyday price or if today was slightly discounted. I thought the list price on the menu was $13.99, but I could be wrong. I got it to go because the place was pretty packed. I only waited about 5 minutes or less from time of order. I took it to the house and opened the paper. It was packed full of meat. The bread wasn't soggy at all and there was some type of seasoning sprinkled over the top. I was instantly hooked after the first bite. The mayo is tangy, which really added to the flavor. There was meat and vegetables in every bite. The bacon was the right amount. The star of the show was that hand-pulled turkey. Even with bacon and sliced ham, the turkey stood out and gave me the feeling of a turkey sandwich made with Thanksgiving leftovers. It really was that good! I will definitely be back with my son so we can start working our way through the hot sandwich menu. My next victim will be a large American Wagyu Cheesesteak, which is made with Snake River Farms meats. It's listed at $22.99, but I think I'll be sharing that one. This is definitely the new King of Sandwich shops in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo there probably is not one person that was more excited to hear about Capriottiās coming to Star Idaho.
The first time I heard of Capriottiās was in Vegas and I used to live there and I would eat there 2-3 times a week . The Capistrami and the bobbi were my favorite.
The first day they had opened I was really underwhelmed by the size of the sandwich I paid essentially $23 for a sandwich. The biggest one they had and it was not full like I was used to getting it was very, very small in the portion size with the meat, so I try again and this time I ordered double meat and double cheese on the Capistrami I spent $31 and they forget to put Russian dressing and coleslaw on my sandwich, which is the main flavor where all the flavor come together with the meat and the cheese. I had ordered about 30 minutes before they closed. I called as soon as I found out when I got home that they messed up my order again. I called him and left a message and never received a phone call back very disappointed and most likely will not be returning to this location and itās very unfortunate because I live around the corner within walking distance I was hoping that at least a manager would reach out and try and make it right.
If you really want to experience what Capriottiās sandwiches are all about go to the one in Las...
